There are parts of what you guys say is connected to it, like automatic assault weapons that just are not what the framers of the constitution had in mind at the time. The NRA has decided that that was a necessary part. There are very few logical citizens that could see the need for them, they shouldn't be included. They also didn't see the need to defend ourselves against our own government. But having the 2nd Amendment in place is a very strong deterrent for anyone all of a sudden deciding that more power would be desirable. We should be able to own them, but very seldom should we have occasion to use them.
