Since they will have had the traditional turkey spread on the day, sister's family wants to have prime rib with our side of the family. If next Friday weren't my parents 50th anniversary I would just blow off the entire trip. I could work on Friday and save the day off for Christmas Eve, get an extra weekend of work done on the house and not spend the better part of 2 days in the car. Ugh!!!

A couple of weeks ago we didn't think my mom was going to live through Thanksgiving so we put it on the back burner. She has rallied to the surprise of everyone and is well enough to come to my house for the day. YIKES, I guess turkey sandwiches around mom's hospital bed is not the way we are going HDO's (my sisters and I can't spell hors de whatevers so we have HDO's) -Spinach Dip with, French Bread Carrots, Snap Peas, Red Bell Peppers -mixed nuts -those huge black grapes that eveyone thinks are olives Something else, haven't decided cause we are eating earlier than usual this year. More of a Lunner than a Linner. Probably something like cheese and crackers. Lunner -Roasted Turkey -Homemade gravy (my mom's recipe starts with one cup FAT one cup flour, my girls can't watch) -A veggie which might be GBC! I've left it up to son's fiancee so no clue what will end up on the table. -Homemade dressing -might have sweet potatoes, haven't decided -black olives -cranberry sauce. Trader Joes whole cranberry sauce and the cranberry sauce shaped like a can Dessert -homemade apple, pumpkin and pecan pie -whipped cream in a can Pretty basic menu. Hmmm, forgot about DS who is a vegetarian. I honestly can't remember what the heck I usually make for him. Better go to Whole Foods and just find something

Talk about ruining something wonderful. WTH??? Does anyone else do this? I don't know if it is a Southern thing or if my family is just weird. They also have cornbread dressing which I know is a Southern tradition. It would probably be okay if I had decent gravy to put on it, but I don't. Please give me just good ole plain bread dressing. For dessert they serve something called Oswald Pie. I don't know if someone in my family invented this as I have never heard of it in my life. I can't tell you what it tastes like as I have never gotten the nerve up to try it even though it does have chocolate chips in it. I have been told it is similar to mince meat and pecan. Ewwww They also serve green bean casserole. Enough said! Anyone else get served anything that is weird to them?
