Nothing weird that I can think of other than an uncle who made mincemeat pie with "real suet" one year :p

Christmas we have a Danish meal with red cabbage and sausages (used to be pork roast with the crackling fat as a whoo hoo part of the meal) and pickled cucumbers so as each family member has brought a boyfriend/girlfriend to the meal there's a lot of explaining to do before hand. Mainly "you don't have to eat the red cabbage and yes it does stink" :)

Just found out yesterday that 5 more people are coming to Thanksgiving so we are for sure having sweet potatoes :)

They're weird. Never heard of that, and every Thanksgiving of my life (this week will be the 38th), I've been in Texas.

"They also have cornbread dressing which I know is a Southern tradition. It would probably be okay if I had decent gravy to put on it, but I don't. Please give me just good ole plain bread dressing. "

Yeah, cornbread dressing is icky! Give me stovetop normal stuff! lol

I did ask another girl at w*rk and she was actually shocked that I don't put hard boiled eggs in my gravy so there are other weird ones out there.

This year I'm using ciabatta bread cubes and cornbread. I usually mix bread cubes and cornbread cubes (Mrs. Cubbisons - or whatever it's called). I decided to buy ciabatta and make my own cubes this year. We'll see...I'm monkeying up tradition here; it could lead to disaster! ;-)

We bought an apple pie from Costco last night, so precious Dave will have dessert, too.

Got the yams roasting in the oven, along with the garlic for the mashed potatoes.

Am about to cook the sausage for the stuffing. I sliced up all of the veggies yesterday and will cook them in butter today. (Oh, it smells so lovely!)

Not sure when I'll get to the pies. My daughter said she wanted to help me but she is out sledding with her buddies.

I just pulled out our gi-normous mixing bowl. We only use it once a year...for stuffing. I swear, it's the size of a tire. How many people are coming over? SIX! And we're making enough food for an army. LOL

Last year was the first year I tossed the giblets :) I felt so free :) neck :p water, celery and carrots are boiled for the gravy stock.
