SuzieQ, it was intended for ALL of the LP Group to travel on our own boat(s), without other guests, so that we could have a little fun. I had informed the Jungle Cruise Guides that our group wanted to be on our own boat(s). But that, unfortunately, didn't happen.

From what I understand, the one boat that was exclusively LP'ers, had fun.
(Although, there were too many goodies in the kits to sort thru). The 1st boat and the 3rd boat had LP'ers and non LP'ers, so we couldn't all converse with each other :( That was the primary difficulty. (and that our jungle cruise guide didn't even tell us about the "Back side of water" ~ how can a Jungle Cruise guide not say anything about the back side of water?)

Haven't decided on leading the Jungle meet this year. If I do, I will simplify the kit:

Bubbles ~ for the Elephant Bathing Pool
(get it, soap bubble for stinky elephants bathing)

Squirt Guns ~ for shooting the Hippo's
(we should all get a chance to shoot the Hippo's)

Noise Makers and Horns ~ to Celebrate the backside of water!

ok, if it was just LP'ers on our own boats, all three of those items would probably come in handy throughout the whole journey. If people wanted to bring there own larger jungle cruise kits this year (bubbles, small squirt guns, noise makers) that may add to the fun. Last year I wanted these things to be a surprise, but if most of us know in advance that will help out.

My personal opinion regarding these types of things is this. Don't do anything that might impact other guests. There is no way to guarantee a ride/attraction will be LP only, so noisemakers, swords, etc. should be a no-no.

Leis, pirate disguises, buttons, shirts... anything that identifies a group are great! They solidify the group but don't impact another guest's experience.

If I recall correctly, that was one of the big factors with moving the Big Meets to rented facilities.

So, the do-not-impact thing regarding LP has been ingrained in me for years now, and came directly from the owners of this site.

I think a "private" boat on the Jungle Cruise sounds like great fun, if it's possible to arrange, but imposing our own private brand of humor on unsuspecting strangers is just rude.

Wow, imagine if we could arrange a private audience with Crush. Now that would be totally cool.

I try very hard to always remember that there are first time visitors all around me. It truly is a completely different park for them with everything being new. They deserve to discover the magic for the first time exactly as it was intended to be discovered. People chanting along with script lines or music or having pirate fights on the Columbia is obnoxious and can completely destroy the magic of someone's first time on an attraction.

That said, I think the Jungle Cruise voyage last year would have been loads of fun and not at all intrusive to other guests if it had worked out as planned and the CMs would have put LPers only on those boats.

But with comments like yours, and with the similar thoughts from one of the biggies here at Laughing Place, I will NOT be leading a Jungle Cruise meet this year. Nor do I feel welcome to.

I am aware that the 2004 Jungle Cruise meet leader did not want to lead the meet for 2005. I am beginning to see why that is the case. It is very discouraging. You may as go as far as saying similar things like handing out leis at the Tiki Room meet are not acceptable either (but i wouldn't)

Something needs to be clarified here,
otherwise meets like this don't seem appropriate LP.

"loads of fun and not at all intrusive to other guests" That isn't a criticism of your event, AladdinAZ. And for what it's worth, I think a group of people wearing leis at the Tiki Room is a far different thing from my examples of people who chant along with spiels or sword fight aboard the Columbia when other, non-LP guests are present. Those are clearly not even in the same ballpark.

I think we can still have a meet and behave ourselves.......and no, since I feel this way I don't want to host it, I would love it if AladdinAZ would continue the tradition. There won't be that many people there this year anyway, so WHY NOT??????

Looking back at these mini meets, I don't recall seeing Doobie or Rebekah at any of these, so I really do wonder if these mini meets really should be held at all. Maybe one of the Big LP cheeses can speak up on this.

I may be overeacting to this, but I really do believe that SuzieQ is WAY overeacting. With that mindset, it sounds like No One should step foot in DL, for fear of affecting other guests at DL. Good Grief, every time you get in a line, you are affecting the people behind you! I say, get over it and have some fun. Hey, that's what the kits were for!

Again, I will Not be leading the Jungle Cruise meet this year. If anyone else is interested in leading the meet, pending Doobies and Rebekah's blessing of mini meets, have at it. Oh, and good luck!

When you chant along with a spiel, when you have a big sword fight on the Columbia, when you take flash pictures throughout a ride, and when you make enough noise on an attraction to drown out the CM's spiel/the music/sound effects/etc., you are negatively impacting that attraction for other guests. That's a shame, in my opinion, especially for first time or ONLY time guests. Think about it for a minute, everyone. . .how would you have liked it if on your first ride on an attraction one of the behaviors I listed above happened throughout the entire thing? Yes, maybe some people would think it was fun and enjoy it. But I would wager that the majority would be annoyed and/or disappointed.

For many LPers, we are doing attractions for the zillionth time. For the first time guest, you can never go back and have a "do over" of that magical first experience. All I'm saying is that I wish everyone would be considerate of that. I don't call that overreacting. I call it common courtesy.

I'm pretty sure they came to the Duckzilla meet last year.

I think the main reason they don't normally come, is because they aren't LP sponsored meets. Just poster sponsored.

I would appreciate any further discussion of this type be done in another topic. Thank you.
