Then again, if I had my druthers, I'd do away with Autopia entirely. Like it or not, hydrocarbon-burning automobiles are not part of any long-term future that's likely to include the continued survival of sentient life on this planet.

Always? There must be exceptions. For instance it seems unlikely that a project the size and scope of DCA's expansion or the inclusion of cloned attractions like Buzz Lightyear at all of Disney's theme park resorts worldwide is something that park management has the final say. Those kinds of projects seem decidedly corporate and part of a larger directive imitated from the top of the Disney Parks & Resorts division.

The Autopia has always been one of those head scratching attractions at the park. I can't figure out what is so special about it other than it's fun for kids who aren't old enough to drive a real car. Since the attraction is pretty much a staple at every theme or amusement park around the world (including all the Magic Kingdoms, oddly enough) you'd think that Disneyland would build something else there.

That's all it is, but boy was that more than enough when I was that age.

I get the feeling that the people in Burbank/Glendale are also, to some extent, different than the ones who were there ten years ago.

In the case of DCA, Anaheim was handed a lemon of a park and was subsequently expected to run it profitably. So yes, you bet Glendale had to listen as to why, on average, DCA was costing Disney $5 for each guest who walked through the gate.

Disneyland Resort complained and complained and complained until the only solution was to retool the park. Again, that particular spark did not come down from Glendale but was initiated at the Park level.

I understand where you are coming from. For instance if a new Disney film were to come out, Glendale could decide to turn it into an attraction of some sort and install it no matter even if Park Management had objections.

Of a different note though, I would sure like to know the true dynamic that created the Tomorrowland debacle.

Rumors of DCA's construction budget syphoning off some of TL's budget, rumors of Rocket Rod's infighting that took it straight to failure, rumors of sponsers pulling out, shuttering of Subs, etc.

From a Risk Management standpoint, how could anyone have planned for all those issues and have had contingencies in place to mitigate for.

    I'm just saying.

    Exactly.

I don't think anyone would have complained had they actually spent the available money ($100 million?) on creating at least one interesting attraction to entertain people instead of wasting it on pavement, paint, a giant marble water feature, and a tunnel from Circle Vision to the Peoplemover. Tomorrowland '98 was just stupid.

As many of you may know, we are going through a test period that reverses the entrance and exit and the Dream Home is now giving Linear Tours through the Home. In the next few months, some of the ring shows wil be updated and some will be changed to work with keeping guests interested. The dormant area (The Jet pack and Hover scooter) will be filled soon! So please keep visiting and give us feedback on how should our building work! Just make sure you visit City Hall and leave a comment.

    Futuristically Yours,

I think this encouragement is not something APers should do unless it is a real and immediate problem.
