I had to call it quits after only 25 minutes (including warm-up and cool-down), because I just couldn't take it any more. I thought that I was pretty much over my soreness, but the areas that were even slightly sore started to tense up pretty quickly. It got not-so-fun really fast!

It did give me a chance to start to break in my new shows (post-half gift from myself) without anything too intense, but it was a bit of a bummer. Also add in the crazy heat outside, and lack of a strong AC inside, and stopping early just seemed like the best solution. Hopefully I can do better on Friday! : /

Looking ahead on my Jeff Galloway training schedule (for the Goofy), it starts to get pretty intense soon, so I need to figure out how to recover faster. Next weekend says to do 4mi on Saturday, and 13mi on Sunday. I'll probably tone it down some, but I can't believe he wants me to go that far so soon!

hopefully everything settles down for you both soon! I am in less pain today, got a sports massage this evening, training starts again tomorrow, but I don't know when I will get to running distance.

DH (he who does no training but is naturally good at sports) did 15 miles yesterday, ran the first and last miles around the 13.1 and still completed in 2hrs and 35 mins... I could seriously go off a person. I've told him that if he wants/needs to be running that pace he will be running on his own! LOL

And if you think I'm crazy for doing the Goofy, maybe I shouldn't tell you that I'm considering going for the Dopey (unofficial term, adding the 5K on Friday morning). The only thing holding me back is that it looks like the 'medals' from previous years are kind of lame, so I'm not sure it's worth getting up early and paying an extra $40 for it. After 39.3, what's another 3.1, right? : )

While it's only 10 minutes before last year's time, the early start (particularly coming from the West Coast) is my biggest concern about this. Given that they wanted us to be onsite about 90 minutes early for the DL race, that would mean being to the start area (or at least on a bus on the way there) by 4:00am. Or 1:00am Pacific.

I'm going to be in the Eastern time zone for Christmas, and I'll do my best to keep my body clock that way (or earlier) in the weeks between then and the race, but it's going to be a real challenge!

Doesn't the course go through guest areas of the park? Must be interesting for the racers and the guests to try and dodge each other!

I wouldn't expect anything else, but I've been reading reviews of the 2010 race in the cold, and people have talked about getting frozen bananas; I had assumed they were talking about the end of the race, but maybe it was in the middle.

And speaking of cold, do they hand out those foil blankets at the finish line? Seems like they might be a really good idea, especially if it's a little on the chilly side. I could always check a bag of warm clothes, but I'd rather avoid the hassle if I can...

I worked Studios one year for the marathon :) and prob will work this years though with the Events Team (I'm running Space Coast and Princess instead of January- unless I change my mind real quick...)

Since I don't run 'big races' I cant say for sure but I believe there is 'real food' i.e bananas at one mile stop.
