You should probably go to the website now, to make sure you have the plug-in you need to view it. http://www.eurovision.tv/page/webtv Then clear your afternoon, and make sure your jaw has something soft to land on when it hits the floor (which will be no later than about 2 minutes into Moldova's number).

Originally Posted By mawnck >>I have to say I thought it was Romanias year<< I kind of knew it wasn't. They altered the scoring system this year in such a way that a song had to get high marks from both the juries and the public to get any points. If the jury hated your song, it didn't matter how much the public loved it, it would be nil points. (The reverse was also true.) I expect Finland got hammered the hardest with that (since there are a lot of countries where girl-girl kissing would not be a big vote-getter with the public) but I'm sure it hurt Romania as well. There will be a lot of poring over the votes after they're released in full. The fact that Russia gave Ukraine's 3rd place song only 1 point certainly raised some eyebrows. The big concern now ... Will the contest lose a lot of countries with these results? It was a bad year for the unloved and the financially strapped (Netherlands and Greece notwithstanding). Speculation is that San Marino, Bulgaria, Ireland, Croatia, Austria, Montenegro and possibly even Spain are going to look at their results this year and say "Screw this, we're out." I think it's safe to say Cyprus won't be back either.
