    I'm sorry BB.

Man, I thought I was negative and cynical.

But with a lifetime in jail, he can't harm any children.

Sure, it would be nice if these guys never hit the public again but the fact is they will. The judges decision was designed to use the existing laws in such a way that the chance for recidivism was reduced as much as possible.

But the scary fact is that most of them commit the same crimes again. If I was a parent that would terrify me.

    In light of the following:

    >><a href="http://66.165.94.98/stories/se" target="_blank">http://66.165.94.98/stories/se</a>
    xoffend.html

The recidivism rate for sex offenders who receive treatment is about 8.4%. It's over twice as much 18.5% for offenders who don't receive treatment.<<

I'm wondering what universe you live in. I wasn't aware that 8.4% to 18.5% constituted "most" of anything.

All good and well. But making up "facts" (you said: the scary fact is that most of them commit the same crimes again") to bolster your opinion doesn't convince anyone. Just admit that your argument is based on emotion (fear and revenge) and I can accept it. I don't like child molesters anymore than you do but I'm not going to give made up "facts" to justify it.

That's the simple fact that cuts through the emotion. Sure, it would be better if the offender was locked away forever, but that isn't legal.

Famulan.... when this guy gets out in March I suppose you would have no problem if he moved next door to you or a neighborhood with lots of little girls?

    Simply unreal.

Beau is right! I'm too tired and don't want to do the R and D to placate you individuals who won't believe anything that goes anything your prejudiced thoughts
Again DD is acting on RATIONAL facts as is Beau and me. They CAN'T be changed any more than gays can be straight. All professionals can do is help them to control their urges (which is better than no treatment) but they CANNOT change much like at the zoo the Zebras can't change their stripes and even though I compliment Pass and Tom they cannot say anything nice about me. That's the truth I have to accept.
    CALMLY but inexorably.
