I think the judge not only needs to take into consideration the rapist’s mental state, but the lasting scars which will live with this little girl for the rest of her life. He says, “She will be a better person for this.†Is this ideology consistent of rape victims? Not that I recall. In fact, I seem to recall that rape victims are among the highest suicide rates. And it wasn’t there fault either, they did nothing wrong. Anyhow, I have a bad feeling that this little girl will be suffering for a long time, and who knows what kind of repressed memories will eventually come out, of course, when this case is long forgotten. This man not only needs to be rehabbed for what he has done—which I am all for BTW—but punished with some significant jail time for what he did.
