Otherwise, it is much better to simply let comments pass when things get a bit personal and, instead, stick to the topic at hand. In particular, though, you really need to understand that it isn't a personal affront to you that some of us simply do not take O'Reilly's program nearly as seriously as you do. You have every right to disagree with our opinion, and even to try and convince us otherwise, but we also have those same rights. Back to the topic at hand, I still think that the intense focus on trying to villanize the judge in this case is both misguided and likely to be ultimately counterproductive. Like pretty much everyone else here, I think the sentence was too light, but I also think the focus should be on adjusting the laws to give judges the tools they need to find an appropriate balance between punishment, protection, and rehabilitation. As the law is currently written, it appears that this judge was stick with having to try and figure out the best of several options, none of which really seemed to fit the crime. The absolute best thing that can come out of this case would be for it to generate a serious discussion about the issues at hand and lead to a reform of the law. This nonsense about villanizing the judge and, even, the entire state of Vermont is simply a distraction. -Jeff

You think we're counterproductive. Your post no. 347 was WRONG in the court of law. Next time try to show a little respect to me even though you say I'm new. I don't see the relevance. You and Pass as I said are very intelligent, and we need you on board to help the children get justice as the lawyers just said today "Judge was insensitive to the victim and the victims's family" NOT ME talking -----------lawyers, and Governors.

I'm sure you are happy that the judge changed the sentence as you Jeff, Pass did not like the sentence. Right? Jesus is smiling now and still nothing good from pass, you, tom or anyone. But I'm too sensitive and everyone isn't out to get me. Okay?

If O'Reilly had started all of this brouhaha over the fact that the LAWS were wrong and needed to be changed instead of jumping all over a judge (who was doing his job) then I'd side with him 100%.
