How do you know? Short answer: you don't - and neither does anyone else, because they're acting without any oversight, and expecting us to just "trust" them.

But some people are happy to believe anything they're told.

Was it? I still haven't seen any credible reports stating that unauthorized wire taps led to the breaking up of the british plot.

Because that is what was leaked. If it was worse than that, whoever leaked would have told more.

If I don't, you don't either. But the proponderance of evidence is with me.

There is no evidence. So why do you suppose they have refused to seek warrants from the FISA court? What could their motive possibly be - even the "best case" scenario?

Well, I work for the government, albeit a county one. My wife works for fairly large city. Since we're personally privy to some of the things that occur on our levels that are "expected" or condoned in some fashion, I can only imagine what goes on at the highest levels.

    In other words, pure luck.

Lets all give up our liberties in pursuit of fear, though. THAT'LL work out perfectly!

again just speculation - I want to know what everyone is so spooked by other than heresay.

again you're giving up what ? The alarm over this is amazing but the facts are non existent.

gee let's throw Ron Brown inthere also- and what really happened to his plane --but tellme how this all relates to listening in on potential terrorist calls ? And by the way all this kind of stuff listed here existed forever...so where is the link to the here and now ? And not letting them listen to these calls stops this ? How ?

So did Congress. Is this Administration working alone?

You give a good reason to put Egyptians in detention camps or deport them based on profiling, but you're really not saying this, correct?

    >>How do you know? Short answer: you don't - and neither does anyone else, because they're acting without any oversight, and expecting us to just "trust" them. <<

Exactly, who are you supposed to trust? Liberals seem to trust the government when government bureaucrats and Democrats are in charge, yet they don't trust Republicans.

And it seem like oversight by the Democrats is non-existent especially when you look at all the Federal programs that are never shut down.

    Okay, what should be done?

    Profiling! Yes!!!
    Deportation! Yes!!!
    Surveillance! Yes!!!

I could cite you chapter and verse on what goes on at the levels I work at but I'd like to stay employed. To think that "things" don't go on at other levels is incredibly naive.

Stupid question. Republican Congress, Republican President. Yes, all alone.
