If the attraction ends up consisting of The Aristocrats, Bolt and Sword in The Stone you're lying to guests by calling it "Great".

You can mix in live action, but Mary Poppins and POTC are taken so then you end up with Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Condorman...

    And so it goes!!!

But once I got over that, I was able to remember that it still had that magical fantasy quality that appealed to a kid. Who wouldn't want a bewitched bed knob to go anywhere? Or win a battle with enchanted suits of armor where no real person gets hurt? It was just an incredibly original, unique, appealing movie. I rank it with Candleshoe as a childhood favorite. Much preferred the "real" fantasy adventures to the animated princess stuff, even back then. A ride encompassing some of these lesser talked about Disney classics would appeal to me very much. Just don't replace the movie ride we have now. ADD one!

It's an embarrasment that it doesn't even rotate! Gene Kelly from "Singing in the Rain" is ok, but his AA really needs updated. It isn't the best likeness of him, to be sure.

The Gangster scene just doesn't work anymore. The car hasn't moved in years and it is actually and the whole "gangster taking over the vehicle" just seems lame to me today. I'm sure some other genre could be subsituted here.

The Western scene is quite good (when the fire effect is working properly) and I like the Clint Eastwood/John Wayne tributes.

Alien seems out of place here for a Disney park, especially due to it's "R-rated" nature, so many little kids freak in this part of the ride. I think I'd rather see an entire dark ride attraction based on Alien than the small portion used in the GMR, plus it could be geared to the older kids and adults.

The Indiana Jones section is cool and fits nicely to the theme of "Great Movies", so I'd leave it alone, but the temple scene with the tour guide coming back just doesn't work for me.

Tarzan can be removed. It just seems so out of place here, especially since Disney has there own version now.

Casablanca is definitely a keeper. One of the best movies ever made and the GMR scene seems so appropriate.

Sorceror Mickey can also go away, it just doesn't fit here at all. In fact, keep animation out of the GMR except during the ending montage. It would be better for Disney to create a whole animation ride-thru attraction covering the history of animation up to the present (and possibly beyond).

Wizard of Oz is absolutely the greatest part of the GMR. Leave this alone in its present format.

    Some suggestions for possible additions:

    - A "black & white" silent movie tributet section at the beginning that miraculously becomes all color with sound right before your eyes.

    - Perhaps replace gangsters, Alien, and Tarzan with different films or genres. I'd love to see a different tribute to Sci Fi here, possibly an animatronic Star Wars tribute here.
[A tribute to classic horror would be good, but most of those belong to Universal. (Whom I'd wish would do an attraction that actually does justice for those legendary creatures, but that's another issue!!!)]

-Recreate the famous squid attack from 20,000 Leagues here with AA Kirk Douglas, James Mason, and Peter Lorre possibly replacing Tarzan. If done right, it could be an awesome replacement.

Just some ideas to throw out there to upgrade the GMR...

this is likely why it is an issue is because I knew we would never all agree..

I could absolutely live without Alien, but absolutely have to have Gangster scene stay, love that movie genre. Tarzan I could go either way with...like the SW idea...and Fantasia-- either upgrade this effect of replace, it deserves better

Alien should stay too, as it represents 2 genres in horror and sci-fi.

ORWEN: And to answer your question, MPierce, duckling, no us cauldron girls never get 'Disneyed out'. We love Disney because we are Disney. That doesn't mean we can't appreciate non-Disney entertainment though. We just prefer they not invade Disney theme parks. We've been to Universal Studios many times, along with Knotts Berry Farm and Magic Mountain, etc. But to merge all those things would give us theme clash indigestion...
