But explain why using facts and reason.

Yeah, this newish poster has gotten under my skin quite a few times. And thanks to this thread, I now understand why. I know what kinds of people I respect and like, and what kinds I scorn. As far as 2oony and a sense of humor - Green Bean Casserole Snowman says it all. Conversely, other things that say it all IMO are "sunshine and rainbows now, we'll just worry about this after we're dead" and "get a life" and "don't take it to heart" <--- it REALLY kills me that someone is saying in WE to not take something to heart.

It's worth repeating that this is not really a "Ground Zero mosque." It's also worth noting that Republican mayor of NYC Michael Bloomberg has made an eloquent case as to why this facility has every right to be constructed. As long as they have legally acquired the funding to build and maintain it, I don't see how, from a Constitutional perspective, anyone can say they should be forced to move farther away.

However, the conservatives who are bleating the loudest are the same people who favor "inserting" DOMA into the constitution, and now ripping out the 14th amendment - the crowning achievement of the GOP - so they can more effectively divide the country between "us and them". And the most egregious case of judicial activism came from the right - with Roberts and Scalia and Thomas and the Citizens United decision opening the floodgates of special interest money into the US political and election system. The pattern that emerges here is that they do whatever dastardly thing they want with their right hand, while with their left hand they point at the other side and accuse them of doing exactly what they've just done. Why does this even work?
