I still give you the fact that at night I would avoid the queue and go for the thrill factor more..as it works at night for me- not during the daylight difference of opinion - nothing wrong with that either

The symbolism might have been there, but for me it just took all the enjoyment out of reading the story.<<< I've always enjoyed that... I am a History Major, after all... ;-)

And, as I have said...everyone has a right to their own opinion and I would have to frankly say that absolutely nothing about the original queue line left me with any forbidding feeling. It was fun and funny...the adventure didn't start really until one was inside. If the CM's were "in character" that set the mood.<<< Oh, well that's the attitude your post gave off... and that's not a bad thing, as you said, it's your opinion. And yes, HM is still fun, and IMO, still has this meaning. It shows death, yes, but in a, heck, happy light. The ghosts are CELEBRATING. Again, the website I linked to says all of this. And I don't understand how you can equate the beginning of the ride and the CMs being the fun and funny part of the story... that's the grim part. Things lighten up after Leota, and when you see the Ball Room. Though Chatty Connie, the new bride, does throw off that progression a little bit. To me, that just adds another layer of the morality tale, that the HM is.

You are still in Liberty Square. The problem with the sounds of the new queue, is that the sounds aren't organic and part of the intended mood. The opening of the HM is subtle, forbidding, and frightening. The sounds of Liberty Square can interact with that. The bubbling of a tomb, the upbeat rendition of GGGs by the organ, and the annoying cat, really clash with that. It's wrong. Honestly, if the sounds were toned down, I'd be really a lot more at home with this.

What I thought I was saying was that the queue itself was fun and funny...the headstones, the epitaphs and so on. Those things certainly didn't instill a feeling of dread...they were funny. What I was saying is that IF the CM's are in character the "spooky" part starts there, when you arrive at the door. That means the the nature of the queue has not changed at all.

I've heard the steam whistle, though, and that's fine. It's part of the greater atmosphere of LS. The quirky and playful sounds of the queue contradict all of that.

There's a rift. The environment has to be realistic, not just a hodge podge of matching ideas/themes.

The old queue had moments of humor, but it's certainly DARK humor... limericks and rhymes about dead people! The intent is to spook you... with a splash of a joke. It's macabre. the new queue? All joke, all the time. That's the issue.

The interactive queue is so versital it is Velveeta. You could make subtle changes to it and have it sitting infront of the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, the Enchanted Tiki Bird House or Peter Pan. Since virtually every ride and attraction at WDW in every park deals with "near death experiences", death works! Maybe the HM interactive queue could be like the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall and Diseny could just move it from attraction to attraction.
