GoFundMe has refused to shut down the campaign, for assorted reasons listed at the Business Insider article, which are mostly stupid arguments and justifications. One of the comments mentioned that GoFundMe collects 5% from the total haul, which is most likely the real reason they won't shut it down. As for the archived page of the campaign's comments that were scrubbed yesterday by GoFundMe admins, it's definitely worth a look if you think the campaign to support Darren Wilson isn't about race. It's painfully obvious that the vast majority of the donations collected for this cop have come from racist hateful jerks who want to see more cops shooting minorities dead.

Some RWNJ posted a generic CT scan from the University of Iowa online and claimed it was of Darren Wilson. Then when the conservative blogger was caught in his lie, he doctored the CT scan to cover up the Univ of Iowa identifier on the image, which was then used by "Fox News and Ann Coulter and Washington Post and many others" in the media to smear Michael Brown. Yeah, that's right. Conservative media knows exactly what happened, Brown got what was coming to him, and everything being claimed by the Ferguson PD and Wilson's supporters is gospel. But the numerous eyewitnesses to the shooting and the confrontation beforehand? Nope. You can't trust them. Of course not. Eyewitness testimony, unlike the unverified postings of conservative bloggers, is worthless. Most likely because they're not white enough.

They complied, and the officer began to drive away, but then threw his car into reverse and came back alongside the teens, nearly hitting them. Johnson heard Wilson say something like "What'd you say?", before trying to open his car door, slamming it into Brown. Then the officer reached out and grabbed Brown by the neck with his left hand. The two men struggled briefly, and then Wilson, still in his car, shot Brown once. Johnson said that he and Brown both attempted to flee, but Brown was shot a second time. After the second shot, Brown turned around and surrendered, putting his hands in the air and saying, "I don't have a gun. Stop shooting!" Johnson said that Wilson then approached Brown and fired several more shots, killing him. Eyewitness Piaget Crenshaw told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that she was waiting for a bus when she saw a police officer try to place Brown in his squad car. Then she saw Brown attempt to flee, with his hands in the air. The officer shot Brown multiple times as Brown ran away, said Crenshaw, who has provided photographs of the scene to law enforcement. The local police who are tasked with investigating the shooting, by contrast, claim that Brown was killed after he assaulted Wilson. St. Louis County police chief Jon Belmar said that the shooting occurred after Brown pushed Wilson back into his squad car, "where he physically assaulted the officer" and then struggled over Wilson's weapon. According to Belmar, Wilson then fired once from the car, and then several more times as Brown attempted to flee. Belmar's verbal account has thus far been the only source for Wilson's version of events, as no incident reports of the shooting have been released despite media requests. During a briefing on Wednesday August 13, Ferguson Police chief Tom Jackson said that Officer Wilson was injured during the encounter with Brown, and that the side of his face was "swollen" afterwards. <a target="blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.vox.com/2014/8/18/6029019/9-essential-facts-about-whats-happening-in-ferguson-missouri-michael-brown">http://www.vox.com/2014/8/18/6...el-brown</a>

Donny has always thrown the benefit of the doubt to the non-minority, especially if the non-minority was the shooter and/or law enforcement involved in an interracial shooting. If the victim wasn't white, then all doubt regarding the victim is discarded. "He must have had it coming" seems to be Donny's mantra regarding these shootings. To believe that racism and/or white supremacy doesn't motivate this line of thinking is foolhardy. Donny is a white male who carries a gun when doing his neighborhood watch, by his own admission. I highly doubt he's mainly scared of other white people "doing something bad" in his community, given his rhetoric on this board.
Originally Posted By skinnerbox <<Johnson said that he and Brown had been walking in the middle of the street when a police officer approached and told them to use the sidewalk.>> OK, this is whitewashing of the truth, pure and simple. The author of this article is deliberately trying to make it sound as if Officer Wilson was polite and courteous to the two young men walking in the street. Why didn't the article give the exact details of the encounter? What Wilson actually said to the two teens was, "Get the f@*k on the sidewalk!" See the difference, Donny? "Johnson said that he and Brown had been walking in the middle of the street when a police officer approached and told them to use the sidewalk." Whitewashing. This is what the article should have written to more accurately reflect Wilson's mindset when he encountered the two: "Johnson said that he and Brown had been walking in the middle of the street when a police officer approached and shouted to them, "Get the f@*k on the sidewalk!" By telling us what Wilson's language actually was, would make us less sympathetic for what he did next. Which is most likely why the author deliberately left it out. Wilson's mind was already in a disrespectful space regarding the young men. There is never any need for language of this kind by any police officer in the performance of his duties. Never. But Wilson's quick use of profanity and verbal abuse highlights an underlying hatred Wilson obviously harbored for the citizens he was supposedly serving. What kind of individual pulls up to a stranger and starts yelling profanity at them for something as non-threatening as walking in the street? I see runners and joggers in the street in my neighborhood all the time. Wilson was obviously using this situation as an excuse to unload his hatred and bile at the teens who weren't committing any major crime. "Jaywalking" is no excuse for a cop to go off like that. And the fact that Wilson did jump down their throats with foul language right off the bat speaks volumes to what followed next. So quit giving Wilson the benefit of the doubt regarding this fatal shooting. Wilson should have known better. He threw the first punch, so to speak, by opening his mouth. Had he been more professional, more respectful, more polite, Michael Brown might still be alive today.

Taking this statement just by itself, you absolutely do not know this to be true. You WANT it to be true. It MIGHT be true, but there's no way you know it to be true. And that's one reason this entire subject won't go away. From right, viewpoints like this end up being easily dismissed.
Originally Posted By skinnerbox I'm sorry, SPP. But I cannot justify *any* reason for Wilson to drive up to Brown and his friend and unload profanity at them for simply walking in the street. Seriously... who gives a rat's arse that they were walking in the street? It's not like it was a major avenue with cars zooming by at 35 MPH every 3 seconds! Rolling down the window and yelling, "Get the f@#$ on the sidewalk!" clearly demonstrates someone who was not in the proper frame of mind to deal with the situation as a law enforcement professional should. And I still contend that if Wilson had asked the two teens in a courteous fashion to walk on the sidewalk where it was safer for them and drivers alike, they probably would have complied. But popping off like that in an obvious hateful tone -- no one uses language like that without first being upset or angry -- set the stage for what happened next. Wilson interjected negativity into the situation with his language, thereby escalating the tension already present between the white cop and the African-American teens. Period.
