All four of us. All at once. In addition to the usual potential crises of glasses shopping (expense, finding flattering frames, etc.) we have the following extra little considerations: 1. Mr. Glitter, who until very recently had perfect vision, is getting glasses for the first time. He wants me to help him pick them out. Unfortunately, he almost never listens to me in matters of taste. 2. Little Mr. Glitter, age 7, firmly believes that the only consideration in choosing glasses frames is that they are made by a suitably cool and boyish manufacturer (i.e., Hot Wheels, Nintendo, etc.) 3. Little Miss Glitter, age 10, turns up her nose at anything "boyish." That would pretty much include everything that is not hot pink or purple. 4. Although I wear contacts most of the time, I do occasionally have to resort to wearing glasses in public, such as when I'm flying or have an eye infection. And so far, in my 42 years, I have never yet seen a single pair of glasses that I liked the look of on my face. Ever. Part of the problem is that I'm so nearsighted, the lenses make my eyes look tiny and piglike. It's just a painful matter of trying to choose the least loathsome. Pray for us.

At least they can only blame themselves for how dorky they looked as children.

My great-gma died and Suzie and I hugged, then she went downstairs. I walked from room to room, looking at it one last time, (even the "scary" room). Then I stole some of great-gma's vintage Xmas decorations (which she never had in real life). LOL

So we tried on several bazillion pairs of frames (it's an open layout, so by "closed" I just meant there was no staff there). Mr. Glitter was surprisingly amenable to my suggestions. Little Glitters managed not to choose anything A) hideous or B) hideously expensive. So far, so good. So we returned the following evening to actually order the glasses. There was a line up of people in front of us. Mr. Glitter couldn't find the frames he'd finally settled on. Little Mr. Glitter's frames didn't come with the magnetic sunglasses after all, so he needed to find a Plan B. After I sorted out those crises, it was finally our turn for the one and only employee to wait on us. After many, many minutes of rustling through very thick books, checking online, and making multiple phone calls, Sears Guy informs us that they don't file directly with our insurance. ARRRGGGHHHH!!!!! He did, however, offer some very attractive discounts, so we just went ahead and paid for them with the hope that we can file with insurance for reimbursement. Could have been worse. But I'd still appreciate some chocolate.
