The same concept that is used to charge so me electric toothbrushes, as well as some electric cars? I don't know, but I'm curious as well.

They want the trains to have a familiarity with previous versions, much like how detroit is trotting out new cars and trucks which borrow heavily from the past. I also think that because of the small beam, they are limited to what they can really do to the cars themselves; the current trains are probably as close to the design limit on ergonomics and allowable weight given the materials they are using.
