Good luck with Warner. Perhaps it might be the wake up call for him. I have got my fingers crossed for you guys.

And Mele, you have always brought out a little magic, I am just glad that now you are feeling it!

I'm at 20 lb lost from my starting weight at about a year ago, I've still got a long way to go, but hey, at least I'm not gaining!

I think my afternoon snack has gone up in calories lately so I'll watch that too.

    Have a great day everyone!!!

Still ticking over here, another couple of weeks before I get to weight loss proper again, and I have to admit I have probably had the odd treat too many, but not enough to have put any weight on. I am looking forward to kissing those last 20lb or so goodbye :D

Mele, the knee is improving slowly, slower than I would like in fact, but I guess it will get there in it's own time lol

I'm down .4 lbs, yes you heard it here. .4 lbs. whoopee with a lower case w. BUT I really truly am upping my "strength" exercises on the Wii so I'm figuring that I've put on about 5 lbs of muscle :) ummm yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

We really are trying to be SO good but still having the occasional treat. The difference is it's something to look forward to and not just mindlessly sticking our hand in a cookie jar or reaching for the chips.

Have a great weekend everyone! How are you all doing?

We did awesome if I do say so myself.
The only Park food we ate was a Fantasia salad that was really yummy. (I did see Alex with some Red Vines and had a hankerin' for high fructose corn syrup and Red Dye #2.
Keep it up everyone. I am off to Seattle in two days. Really have to keep my guard up there.

Good job iamsally with keeping up with your goals even while on vacation!!!

Dave, you can do this. I know you are thinking of your wife and kids and wanting to be there for them on all their milestones. Imagine yourself a healthy daddy as you dance with your sweet daughter on her wedding day. The weight didn't come on in a month or even a year, give yourself time and ignore the negativity.

I hope everyone has a great day! BIG change in weather here, lots of rain and it's chilly too. Time to start thinking of healthy cold weather meals.

Weather is miserable. I do not mind it when I am in the house just listening to rain on the roof. But the water stopped and I had to go outside to hit a switch to start the pump. The poor chickens looked so unhappy and had to be fed inside. The rabbits love it; they are built for cold weather. I checked on the tortoise and his house was cold (it can be deadly for him to get chilled to the core) and had to fiddle with wires and breakers to get his heat going.
And, I am trying to get ready to leave for Seattle in the morning and a chunk of my tooth broke off and I have to see a strange dentist at 4 to get a temporary crown. (To the tune of $900+.)
    WHAT A DAY!!!!!! (8^O

Eat lots and lots of vegetables cuz that is what is most important. A little protein and a few carbs. It can be trying but is possible. It is just that after the ball you will need to eat sensibly to keep any weight off. Crash diets do tend to rebound.

disclaimer: No one here advocates the use of crash diets or quick weight loss. Dieter assumes all risks.

Good luck hon; I have been there myself.

Lots of veges, some protein and some carbs.
A BIG salad with every dinner helps :)

iamsally, I hope the dentist wasn't too strange :) What a day you had! I hope today goes smoothly for you, I read your post in community and WOW I'd say more like "what a month!" :)

I am hovering at 96 lbs. lost. My trip to Atlanta was fabulous but I did eat a lot of calories. Drank a few cocktails, too. Actually, my worst splurge was right after I got off the airplane. I wolfed down that burger from Red Robin that I used to love. Honestly, the thrill is gone. Not worth the 1200 calories. I mean, it was edible, but nothing I'll ever crave again. The fries, on the other hand, are a different story. Maybe someday the fries and I will run away together. Maybe make sweet love. Who knows? ;-)

I'm stressing about the holidays! Oct. is half over and I have only a couple of decorations out. And the only reason they're out is because I bought them from Target the other day. It's funny, now that I have a real life, I am just not as into that stuff as I was before. It's kind of sad and kind of not, you know?

I haven't worked out since Thursday and my legs are killing me. That seems to be the new thing...skip working out for a few days and my legs start to ache. It's weird, but at least it is more inspiration to get off my rear. (My muscles are atrophying! LOL)

So, are we starting to formulate our dieting plans for the holidays? Does anyone want to post some healthy holiday recipes as we discover them? We're going to try to lighten up Thanksgiving a bit. We won't be going Tofurkey or anything but we're gonna skip the half & half in the mashed potatoes this time. Thankfully, my family is on board with this (my son, who is thin, is a little less thrilled but I don't think anyone will even notice the difference.)

The past few years our vegetable for Thanksgiving has been steamed green beans with some almond slivers. No butter, just salt and pepper. We don't miss any cream sauce or butter because we LOVE our gravy. Mom makes it with turkey drippings or vege oil, chicken broth, wondra and water. Again no cream and a little goes a long way. My sister made a really good vegetarian dressing for our son last year. No sausage. I've heard people swear that the gardenburger sausage tastes just like the real thing so maybe that could be swapped. We have also cut out rolls or bread unless there are a lot of picky eater kids coming. Just some ideas off the top of my head :) Gravy......mmmmmmm ;)

Oh our appetizers have been cut down to veges and a veg dip that is basically smashed beans, avocado and tomatoes. Some pears and apples with a good cheddar cheese or brie is good too, maybe a lower calorie cheese would work. Saving the calories for mom's homemade pumpkin or apple pie.....mmmmmmmm

Due to a several months' long period of one physical ailment after another preventing me from exercising, combined with being a total hog, I'm up in the danger zone again. I hate the way I look, my clothes don't fit well, etc., etc.

The big, horrifying reality check came a few weeks ago at a routine doctor appointment. Got weighed on the official doctor sliding weight type scale which, in my little mind anyway, is "official." The nurse says, "You weigh 131.5 pounds." Now this might not sound bad, but let me put it into perspective. I'm 5'4", and I'm really small boned. Tiny little frame. And my all time highest weight of my entire life, when I was nine months pregnant with my second child was. . . .139 pounds. And the baby weighed a little more than eight pounds. So, um, yeah, it's time to drop a few--lol!

I started walking for exercise and have gone every other day for the past week. Somehow I have to mentally get back to making lower calorie food choices. I'm not there yet. At all. But I have started drinking water again, so that's a start. And I'm hoping that getting back on track with the exercise will help motivate me to make smarter choices in what I eat, as opposed to just downing any and everything I want.
