Oh MomluvsDisney, I am so happy you brought this up. With all the talk about Skinny Cows and low-fat mayo I did not want to come off sounding *veggier than thou.* Please EVERYONE; do what works for you.
But we have been whole foods for several years now. We use whole raw milk, real butter, even real whipped cream (very rarely for very special desserts.) But have you read the ingredients in Cool Whip? EEK! And yes, portion control is everything. And I have recently given up wheat so I have had to learn to do this with rice, corn and gluten free oats. We eat no packaged food and my fridge bulges with fresh vegetables. We do eat meat but in very small portions. And cheese; YIKES! do you all have any idea how small an ounce of cheese is?!?

    >>>>"life is short make it a good one"<<<
This is so ironic. I was out to lunch months ago with my Red Hat ladies. Our Queen Mum saw me using my stevia. (It is always comical cuz I carry this white powder in a small vial with a tiny spoon.) When I explained to her why I use it instead of chemical sweeteners she responded with "I don't worry about things like that; life is too short."
Well, this is very sad but she is dying now. And they cannot figure out what is wrong with her. That is a common problem with our current environment and food intake. Don't want this bumped to W/E so I will shut up about that. Just struck me as so weird.

Oh Tom, I know that. If I worked I think I would find it easier to just go on to the gym. In fact, I did that alot with my last job. But we live in the country and it is cold and I don't want to change clothes; I can just come up with all kinds of excuses to NOT get in the car and go. (Gas prices are no longer a ligit excuse. LOL)
But we have been doing it. And on the days that we don't make it in we use the Wii.

Food is going well. I did cave on some of the 25cent candy at Walmart. But it is for the kids. Honest! When I do cave in to candy craving I eat organic dark chocolate or dark chocolate covered nuts. How healthy of me, right?
    Again, portion control is key.

My best to you all and thanks for the tips and support.

Again, they're not about being super healthy but they are a bit more practical in that it compares various fast food/grocery store items and tells you which one has less calories, sodium, fat, etc. It's a neat idea. Sometimes we do have to grab a quick/easy meal.

Monday I only had a bowl of minestrone soup and a nice dinner of WW sage cranberry pork loin, mash potato and green beans. Delicious! And low calories.

Tuesday I was literally on a plane for 8 hours. Either sitting on the run way or actually flying. So it was just a Happy Meal from McD's when I finally got to my destination at 2am.

Wednesday was my first day back at my job in Atlanta - HIGH STRESS and GRUMPY so I had a yogurt for breakfast and a bag of chips around 1pm, all morning I had been running. For dinner I was so tired I just got some KFC chicken breast, mash potato and a salad. I looked it up and I still for the day stayed under 1200 calories. So while it wasn't the most healthy it worked.

Today, I'm back on track: yogurt and banana for breakfast. Orange and some crackers for lunch. Dinner is some carbs.

My biggest hurdle is in the past 4 days I've only had 2 cokes - that is HUGE for me. It's been water, water, water.

ajnhollysmommy- I am proud of your reduction of soda intake. I think that is a terribly hard thing to break (It took me a couple of months when I did it three years ago). And nothing used to taste as good as opening a glass bottle of an ice cold coke and having a swig...~smile~

This is my favorite but I don't buy it often because it's expensive and might have added sodium. (i can't remember.) I love the bottles. LOL

LOL -Ok but I did say used to. Now I cannot get enough water. I love water! A bit strange I grant you but it tastes so good to me, especially after swimming laps for 45 minutes. And the last time I tasted soda was at Thanksgiving and I have to agree with mele, it tasts waaaay too sweet for me.

Congrats to all you losers. Keep it up!

I had yogurt and granola for breakfast with coffee. A bottle and a half of water so far. Lunch was a diet coke and a SmartOnes pepp pizza. I'm still way under my point values today. Tonight will be baked lemon-garlic chicken with a salad and an apple.

Last night I went to Target and found that their Smart Ones items are way cheaper than the grocery. I just love having them on hand for the few times I don't have time to prepare my day's lunch.

I even found a Target-brand Skinny Cow for only $3. I thought that was a deal.

I hope to have lost at least another pound by tomorrow. Yee Haw!!

(Oh yeah, thanks for that carrot and salsa idea....I'll give it a try. The Superbowl is coming up and if I can skip the chips that will be a big accomplishment!)

So while I can't eat cookies, donuts, cakes, brownies, churros, bread, etc. I can eat chocolate, ice cream, sugar, corn chips, potato chips, candy, etc. You get the idea. I really need to think about what I am using to fuel my body. Is it bad stuff? Then my body probably will not function at its optimum best.

Today, I've not been the Weight Loss Poster Child either. I've dipped into a few things that I didn't really need. Ate some very salty corn nuts. Why? I don't even like them. Anyway, now I feel all puffy and gross, so I'm drinking water like a fish.

I must have a date with the Wii tonight!

Ajnhm good job resisting the soda. If you find yourself ready to drink one dump salt in it. The memory of that taste should cure you. ;)

Thanks for the wishes for DH mele :) He did great. He went to the same Dr. our 4 kids went to for their wisdom teeth extractions so it was kind of funny to take my biggest "kid" there.

He was happy as a clam sitting on the recliner watching Hellboy II so I scooted out to Costco. I didn't take any samples, avoided the bakery section and made it out with no calories consumed :)

So far today, wheat chex and soy milk, Trader Joes yogurt (the only kind I can stand) and 3 large healthy something or other crackers and a Kashi bar. Tonight a bit of left over steak and red pepper soup and salad. I know the nutritionist is going to remind me that I'm only supposed to have beef twice a month so I thought I'd get it in before I start journaling.

mater, do you make your own turkey burgers? Just asking because the one time I bought ground turkey instead of ground beef the burgers were really blah. Is there something I should have mixed in?
