I am right there with you. When the *old* weight loss thread started I needed to lose 10 pounds. Now I need to lose 20. I took off close to ten this fall, have maintained for a bit and yesterday got a shock at the gym. I was up a bit.
So, I was thrilled to see this new thread and it is just the boost I need after the pep talk I gave myself this morning.
The Wii Sports and Fit have been great but candy and well, mostly candy just don't lend themselves to weight loss or good health. And I have so many cute clothes I want to get into this summer.
So it's off to the gym and here's to a great big beautiful tomorrow. (With thinner people in it.)

    Remember:
NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS THIN FEELS! ! ! !

Hey everyone! I'm riding the weight loss train as well. About six years ago I lost 77 pounds, and while I gained a little back after one or two years, I gained the majority back after Hurricane Katrina (living in a two bedroom house with 12 adults and a 2 month old infant will make you run to the fridge every 10 seconds!).

I want to lose the weight for good this time and I'm determined to start on Monday, January 5. Friday is my birthday and I won't be watching what I'm eating that day, but I told my mom no birthday cake, because there's always leftovers.

My goal is to lose the 70 pounds I've regained by July and KEEP IT OFF. The last time I lost the weight I saw a nutritionist and followed the plan she set out for me, and I'll be following the same plan this time as well. I'm also going to make myself go to bed early every night so I can get up and workout before work.

I also plan to go to a nutritionist AFTER the weight loss is finished to develop a sensible eating plan for everyday life. I need to realize that almost no one eats whatever they want and stays fit. Those people blessed with that type of metabolism are one in a million, and I'm not one.

I need to lose the weight because I'm worried about my health and because I'm miserable. I remember how happy I was after the weight loss: I was so relieved not to have to shop in plus size stores anymore, and it felt so good to have a physical and have the physician tell me I was in great health and at a healthy weight. We took family pictures over the weekend, and I'm completely disgusted with how I look. I have the power to change it and I will. It's time to stop feeling sorry for myself and start doing something about it.

We can do this, guys and gals. We just have to be strong and stay committed and realize that eating an unhealthy meal will make us feel good for an hour, but bad for the other 23 hours. It's just not worth it. We can support each other and lose this weight!

I can't join in the fun just yet as I am still quite pregnant, but I will keep an eye on this thread as I have a feeling I will be needing it after the baby is born in early February.

I would love to pull out the WiiFit again and slowly get back into the running and trying to be in some sort of shape that I was pre pregnancy.

    talk to you soon =)

I am looking to start next week, I have to get rid of the candy etc. I also have to say that I like the idea of seeing a nutritionist and having them set out a plan with me, I have problems with the fact I work shifts, so it would quite probably be money well spent.. I will have to see if I can find one locally, thanks for the idea!!

Today is the day to organize my menu, my grocery list, my to do list, etc. I also plan to do 20 minutes of some kind of exercise. I think I can! I think I can! I think I can!

Smedley, it was the best thing I did. She taught me about portion control told me exactly what I should eat - the number of carbs, veggies, proteins, etc. I tweaked it a little bit to better suit me (for instance, I'd substitute two snack size candy bars for pretzels as a snack at night, but I kept them within the calorie range she prescribed for me), but it really worked. She taught me how to eat the right things and still be full; I didn't feel like I was depriving myself of anything. Like I said, my problems started after I finished the weight loss, when I had to maintain my weight. I wasn't sure how much I could eat, and I went overboard.

I found my nutritionist through my doctorl the nutritionist was based at her hospital. If you call your doctor or your local hospital, they'll send you in the right direction.

We can do this everyone! Make time in your day and your life to take care of you! You're worth it!

So the treadmill gets put back in the livingroom today, right in the middle of the room so I can't ignore it, and I am setting my goal at 40 pounds.

    Here's to a healthier 2009!

Pixie I was like you the first 28 years of my life, I danced every day and ate what ever I wanted and was still skinny. Then I went into "plumpa" mode, metabolism gone haywire. Two babies followed and it's been yoyo and then gain, gain, and gain since.

    Goals:
150 - 160 lbs by Dec. 31st of this year.

Arthritis keeps me from any major exerciese, I can do a stationery bike though.

Health improvement - have heart issues

What I can do though is go to my community center and use the staionary bike and some of the machines that won't put pressure on my feet and knees where the arthritis is the worst.

My roommate just bought me a bag of Snickers and a bad of Tootsie Rolls for a late Christmas. I have finished them. :-( Well, at least they are no longer around and I won't eat or buy more, right?

My goal for 2009: Lose 20lbs by the Aug 1st wedding so I always look at the pictures fondly.

The best of luck to everyone!!! Let's get healthy!

Tapdancemom - I feel exactly the same way. But do check your local Community center - they may have a water arobics class... go and see - you may find you are not the largest of the bunch and feel better about it.

When I reach my ultimate goal of 70 pounds, I'm going to get professionally fitted for new bras. It's something else to keep you motivated.

I, myself, am going to be trying very hard to do that very thing. I hope I am up for it. I've done it before and the hardest part is just "getting started". It's hard to get into the exercise routine for me. Making myself take the time and actually doing it. Consistantly. For me that is the absolute hardest part...I hate exercising! The diet, I can handle. Most of the time. But the key words are "getting started". Time will tell.
