For me, I am not denying my chocoaholic habits, I am gaining a better look for the meet in december (and a better ability to ride all the rides at the DLR when I go on my B-Day on in March)

Granted I try to eat more of the healthy ones and less of the not so healthy ones, but trying to eliminate a certain food or a whole group (carbs or fat for example) is simply not realistic. And, I believe, not good for your soul. If you really love a food, why torture yourself by giving it up? Just have it when you really, truly want it and not just out of habit. It's relatively easy to balance a high-calorie choice by consciously cutting calories in other areas that day. All that said, I realize that cutting out certain foods does work for some people, and more power to them. It just doesn't work for me, so I've learned how to work around it. As we're seeing in so many different areas just in this thread alone, there are many, many paths to a healthier lifestyle.

I'm going to really check my hunger level, if I really am hungry, and not just bored, I may let myself indulge. But right now I just want it. I just ate a healthy lunch and I'm satisfied. I could eat more, but don't need to. So I've got myself in "wait and see" mode. Baby steps . . .

They are called Snacksters. Try one of those! <a href="http://www.hersheys.com/products/details/snacksters.asp" target="_blank">http://www.hersheys.com/produc...ters.asp</a>

Now I only weigh myself weekly and it has helped a ton. My softball team lost both games last night but we had tons of fun and I was not sitting on the couch so that is a plus! The problem is I don't always follow the plan.<< Evenings are the hardest for me too, I work late and don't get home and have dinner until between 7:00 and 9:00 most nights. I'm hungry and exhausted, not a safe combo for me. Then there's the before bedtime cravings, I try to have a yogurt or fruit but often will get a trail mix bar or crackers.

I've been through changes in a diabetic diet for the last 59 years, and boy, dieting regimes really do change. There is no such thing as a sweetener with 0 calories. I wish they would change this, or make some kind of statement on the packets. All of them (except stevia) have maltodextrin, which is a derivative of corn. It has calories which are absorbed over time. So if you drink a lot of diet soda, you might gain, instead of lose weight. I'm allowed sweeteners only during meals. If you're feeling hungry after a breakfast of mostly carbs try adding a protein like yogurt, egg, cheese, or leftover meat. Or add a bit of fat, but better add some fiber like ground flaxseed. Although hot oatmeal is great for fiber, the instant stuff isn't nearly as good. I understand completely about the celiac diet. Although many diabetics develop celiac disease, I actually am allegic to wheat. I have found a multitude of equally fattening replacements, lol. I was pretty good today (mostly because of my doctor reading me the riot act). Breakfast: Joes O's with rice milk and flaxseed. Lunch: McDonald's chicken wrap with no cheese and xtra lettuce, and a fruit salad w/ barely any yogurt. Dinner: Tuna fish salad pita with 4 velomints. No food allowed for the rest of the night, sigh. and I went to the club and exercised for over 1/2 hour - a first since I broke my foot (again).

KT, what was KJ sworn in as? I'm sure it was a reason to celebrate! Anyone into crockpot cooking? I'm going to try to do more of that this winter, again, no excuses that I am tired after work. Also cutting up all my veges at once and sticking them in containers in the fridge makes it easier to throw together a salad or stir fry. So far today multigrain cheerios with soy milk, yogurt, apple, kashi bar and some fish crackers that I don't know why I ate. Tonight I think it's going to be soup and salad.
