I am loving the shape ups. I'm sure that they won't make me lose ten pounds, or that I'll end up with a cute tiny little backside. I have had several neuromas in my left foot. One of the most painful things for me to do is just stand. Standing in church, working in the kitchen, standing in line, is when I have the most pain. These shoes kind of shift my balance off the painful areas.

The biggest negative for me (besides the hefty price of $100) is they add about 2 inches to my already very tall stature. I'm about 5'10" in my bare feet. Don't really love being 6' tall. But at my age, comfort is the biggest issue.

Ran out of pain meds. and just have something for headaches, but at this point...I'll take it! Along with my heating pad. So I will have to be careful that I don't run to the comfort foods to make me feel better. If only for a few minutes. I did have a small bowl of sherbet earlier. So I have to be really careful...I know what I'm like.
I had just weighed myself too. No loss but no gain either.
I spoke to another customer today that came into the store where I work and she was wearing the Sketchers Shape Ups. I asked her if she liked them. you could tell they were very new. She said she'd bought them to wear at Disneyland because she knew she'd be walking a lot. She said she was disappointed, because her feet still hurt her. So she is just wearing them to run around town and do her errands. I had been considering them, as so many have said good things about them, but I have bad feet that hurt all the time, so I think I will wait and let a lot more people weigh in on the subject.

Went for my official weigh in this morning, and despite my complete off the wall weekend before last I am down 2.5lb, should have been better, but knowing just how much bad stuff I had I am pretty happy with it! I am in the zone, and have no plans for the next 2 weeks, so I am aiming for 6lbs which would take me to just under 182, before we go to Prague for the weekend.

Looks like we may have sunshine all day so I hope to get out for some exercise.

    Let's do this today!

smeds!!! congrats on the loss and being in the zone :)

cs, your evening sounded perfect for weight loss :) Brushing your teeth is a great idea.

You ladies had me ready to go shoe shopping yesterday :) Between the Sketchers and the fitflops I was wanting new shoes so badly but ended up spending most of my day organizing my WW stuff.

geniesjoy, you are SO inspiring with your exercise classes. You are so right about keeping our bodies moving! :) I have to keep reminding myself about that.

I will go to the Yogarobics on Thursday. Tai Chi yesterday was good but my feet kept on cramping up. My body is so cranky about moving sometimes or standing in one place for too long. My right arm is not right but not sure what to do about it yet. More investigation!!!!

Tinkeroon-yeah baby-been there done that mystery move in the shower & end up at the chiropractor & heating pad for a couple of days. My back started that little twingie thang this morning & that is when I bend over then slowly squat down & carefully unfold back up and that usually helps if I am careful.
    No guarantees tho.

Smedley-doing so good we are proud of you totally♥♥♥!!!!

All---I bought a pair of nike air max shoes for general walking & excercise classes as I need alot of cushion & support which they have. As I got older my feet thinned out, lots of tendons showing & minus meat on these old bones so not much padding to walk on. I was able to get them at half price with gift coupons from my CCard.
This is the fun part--inside under the foot pad there is a place that holds a chip/card that can be inserted into an IPOD which will tell you have many calories you've burned, etc. BUT I don't have an IPOD! Sighhhhh!!

    Eat well & prosper!!

Talked to DD and she has the Sketchers Shape Ups too. She likes hers well enough, but doesn't notice any of the benefits that they touted in the video that came with them. But she's in pretty good shape already so that may be why. She's thin and toned but was hoping for a little lift in the booty. But she said they were pretty comfy. She thinks she could have gotten just as much from a much less expensive shoe.

Back is feeling a bit better today. After work I sat in my recliner with a little pillow behind my back and a heating pad turned to "high" for a couple of hours. Not sure if it helped or not. Upon standing, it took a while to get myself into some sort of painfree alignment. Feels much better to walk around than it did to sit in the recliner. But how much walking around the house can you do, without bending or exerting yourself?! You kinda walk in circles. May try to gently stretch it out later today. But am afraid to rock the boat as it isn't spasming today. Yet. Weird how these things tend to come on without any obvious aggravations. Haven't done any heavy lifting or aggressive exercise. I was in the shower! With nice hot water beating down! Go figure!

Am meeting with my daughter for lunch at the Olive Garden today, so wish me luck in the eating department. Have only been there once before and not all that sure what they have on the menu for those of us who are watching our fat/calorie intake. While I LOVE salads, I don't particularly want one in a restaurant (other than a side dish) because I can get those at home anytime! And restaurants make all their food taste so good by adding FAT and salt in a myriad of ways.

Good luck to you all today!

We don't have Olive Gardens over here but we do have Fasta Pasta Express which I am assuming has the same kind of food. If we eat there while dieting I usually order pasta with a tomato sauce and either vegetarian or chicken based and it has always been fine with my weight loss numbers, so that may help you decide on what to order :)

Olive Garden has been on my forbidden list for quite some time. My mom and I would split the Tour of Italy; but even split I am sure it is a couple days worth of fat grams. Good luck with that.

I am on day 13 and according to my scale, which can vary, I've lost 6.6 pounds. I don't believe it though!

iamsally...I did see that Tour of Italy on the menu...and it sounded delectable. I stuck to the tomato based sauce. (But darn those bread sticks!) Hope your cold doesn't keep you down and out too long! Sometimes you just have to pamper yourself a "little" bit to feel better. The problem is knowing when enough is just that...enough.
Thanks Tandelothien for the menu suggestions! And yes, Olive Garden is primarily pasta and other wonderful Italian dishes. I was hoping for some really good minestone soup at lunch but it wasn't a choice today. Only cream based soups except for one vegetable soup...which on second thought may have been a minestone but the waiter didn't call it that and that's what my mind would have latched onto.
MomluvsDisney...hang in there! If we can help, please let us know!
Mary Poppins, it sounds like you are doing a great job! Must be all that walking!
mickeymeg, you sound like me. I can find a good excuse to get out dieting with hardly no effort at all! =] Just do your best.

I am still on plan, day 10 now and feeling good (was on plan for nearly 3 weeks before that but then had a weekend blowout so it doesn't count lol!)

I hope all the people who are struggling with colds and injuries are feeling a little better today too!

Onwards and downwards, and don't forget that fat melting juice!!! (casts an eye towards amazed)

Tinkeroon, I feel for you and those breadsticks at Olive Garden, YUM!! Many chain restaurants have nutritional info on their websites. Olive Garden is one of them and you made a good choice :):) (well except for the breadsticks, but today is another day:) The website dwlz.com is also a good source for restaurants. It's WW based but if you want to go to into a restaurant prepared you can eyeball the lower points listed and go with them.

I looked up Boudin (french bread bakery based in San Francisco, the Pacific Warf Cafe in DCA is one of their bakeries) bread bowls to see if I could fit one in to my week. I was surprised to find all the nutritionals on their website :)

Today is our DS#1's 31st birthday :) It's a busy time for him (and DH) and he lives 1 1/2 away so we won't be seeing him today :( but looking at the bright side I won't be tempted by cake :)

mickeymeg, I know exactly what you are saying, I think we all do. The thing is to keep picking yourself back up and getting to your goal :) You can do it!!

I tweaked the other shoulder a couple of days ago :p With one shoulder going out I overcompensated by using my left arm and sure enough OUCH! The chiropractor manipulated me back together and I'm feeling about 90% OK on the right side and 75% on the left. It's really annoying because I was really committing to doing Yoga and Strength on the Wii fit and now I can't complete the movements. Oh well, who cares if a fake skinny trainer thinks I'm a couch potato :)

    Have a great day everyone!!
