I had a massive chocolate craving so I came here and read the 30 new (to me) posts, and I no longer even feel like chocolate at all! You're all too inspiring. Going to go grab an apple instead...

Happy Haunt, doesn't it make you laugh when you are doing exercise other than on the Wii Fit and you go back on it and it scolds you? I usually have a few choice words for "it" :)

iamsally, you are in the zone and I predict that you'll do fine during your family time in Washington :)

Liberty Belle, if you LOVE chocolate and you can feel that you can stick with portion control here is an idea. Buy a bag of wrapped 1 ounce DARK chocolate squares. A really good dark chocolate. Give yourself 1 a day. Not 2 or 12, just one. Plan when you are going to eat it, with a cup of coffee in the afternoon or after dinner or whenever, then unwrap it and eat it slowly. I usually have some raw almonds or some fruit with mine. Also, DARK chocolate covered berries or nuts are actually good for you. If you do buy them, check the portions/fat/calories and then portion them into little zip lock bags or use a measuring spoon/cup each time. It gives yourself permission to have that yummy chocolate but a mental note to control the amounts. Remember 1 a day only :) Good luck, YOU can do this!!!!

We leave for DLR today, only driving part way and then to DLR tomorrow :) DD called yesterday and said they couldn't stand waiting so called and booked a "cheapy" room in Anaheim for tonight and are heading down today. We used to be the "Disneyaholics" in our family but I think they have overtaken our title :) I plan to be thoughtful with my treats, portion control my meals and walk, walk, walk :)

And thanks for the words of encouragement. I weighed today (couldn't wait til tomorrow!) and I've lost over a pound since I weighed last week. I'm now my lowest weight since 2006... yea! I finally got down past the "magic figure" I've been hovering around since Christmas. I also went to a fish and chip shop for lunch and just had a greek salad (I know not the healthiest salad out, but I don't eat dressing, and I figure it was a lot better than what I normally would have had!) Then I went to the movies and resisted my favourite Swiss chocolate ice-cream. THEN I went to my sister's for dinner and when they all had an ice-cream I chose an apple. I know I'm raving on here, but I was happy with myself after a few weeks (well, a couple of months really) of giving into the slightest hint of temptation! I actually wanted the ice-cream at my sister's, then I thought "well, I passed up the Swiss chocolate ice-cream and I'd have rathered that, so what's the sense in ruining it now?"

Amazed, enjoy your trip, have a wonderful time!! Keep up the good work, it sounds like you have a lot more willpower than I do... I completely "let go" when I'm at Disneyland!

I am in the zone too, still hoping the scales will be kind when I hop on them tomorrow before our trip Tuesday, hoping to stay relatively in the zone while we're away too, although there will be a few treats, we shall see :)

We have gotten really good about measuring out snacks (especially while on the road) into baggies. We eat that and that is all there is. We also enjoy a bit of dark chocolate almost every day.
Keep up the good work friends.

There was so much good stuff. Even though I kept to a small plate and reasonable portions over the whole day it was way too much. Then we had some ice cream when we got home.
And this morning I was up a pound. So that meant a veggie omelette for breakfast and salad for lunch. Dinner will also be light and, oh yeah, WE MADE IT TO THE GYM TODAY!!!! I am so happy cuz we have really slacked off there. I hope we can make it tomorrow to work out the soreness we are boung to have.

I am happy to say he is now better and seizure free :)

The point of this story is to say I have not been exercising this week. I have been eating ok though and am down 500 grams at todays weigh in. I have now decided to "straighten up and fly right" cause I am sick of seeing the same numbers fluctuating on the scales.

Good work and good luck everyone!

Thanks everyone, and congrats back to you! I love coming here when I need inspiration! I've been weighing myself all week to make sure I don't go up from my new "lower weight", which I haven't thus far, but I haven't gone down either - the number has stayed the same all week, which is frustrating since I've been quite good! I'll have to kick it slightly into higher gear next week. My sister just lent me her skipping rope to try out and I'll buy one if I think I'll use it. I haven't skipped since I was about 12 but I think it could be fun and "easy" exercise for the days when I can't be bothered to walk!

Here's a strange question, am I the only one who does this? When I'm doing things like standing at the microwave waiting for food, or brushing my teeth, or blow-drying my hair, I walk or jog (the jogging's only with the microwave, NOT with the blow-dryer! I'm so unco-ordinated I'd end up losing my hair!) on the spot. Does that sound odd? I just figure it's a good, easy way to get my body moving when it otherwise wouldn't be... I'm sure it doesn't do much, but every little bit of toning helps, right?

I'd smack myself upside the head with the hot end of the blow-dryer, lol.

We did make it to the gym today. I have been taking it easy as we get back in the groove and have not been sore at all. (Maybe I have taken it too easy.)
Take care all. Tomorrow is the luau and I really have to have my guard up.

A few things I noticed on this trip were:
-Losing weight means less padding for the Matterhorn. OUCH!
-I didn't ever get truly achy or tired. The daily walking, toning and carrying around 20ish less lbs. helped a lot.
-DH and I would look at a menu and naturally choose to split some things that in the past we would have both hogged right on through
-When we got back home we moved right back into our healthier habits :)

Tand, I'm so glad that your son made it through his illness without a seizure! What a relief.

Congrats to all the "zonies" and "losers" :)

I hope everyone is having a good day!
