It started as the first person to lose 20 pounds wins the pot ($180), but now it is the person with the lowest amount of percentage body fat lost by 7/2/10 wins. Doesn't matter. I'm in the lead either way. I've just simply changed my eating habits. I still refuse to excercise in the true sense of standing in front of a mirror and moving around. I walk. A lot.

I'm in this because my blood pressure and cholesterol levels were out of hand so my MD sent me to a nutritionist. I need to lose the weight for health as we all do I'm almost to the goal (after a year and a half) and I have to say that it feels good!!!!

A competition is great motivation, my sisters and I did that (the percentage of body weight lost thing) and I won. That was 2005, though - I'd like to do another! I also don't do any "organised" exercising. I like Wii Fit, skipping (I've been doing it about a week now and amazed at how much better I am than when I started), walking and free weights. I thought about joining a gym, but haven't bothered as yet. I don't think I'd get the use out of it to make it worthwhile. This week I've been pretty good with exercising but not very good with eating. My friend's wedding is now three months away (which also means my Disenyland trip is three months and two days away) and I've only lost just over a kilo (about three pounds) since the wedding was FOUR months away! I have to step it up a notch. Tonight my sister and I are going to a show and we're going out for dessert (chocolate fondue - in my defence I've been wanting to try it for months, and she doesn't often go out on a Saturday night because she has kids!) first, so I'm trying to be good for the rest of the day. I'm REALLY hungry at the moment so about to go track down an apple or maybe a carrot... trying to avoid thinking about how much I want more of the delicious pasta I had for lunch! On the plus side, this is probably the first time in my weight-loss history that I can say exercising is making me feel really, REALLY good afterwards. It makes it much easier to go back and exercise the next day! Other times exercising has basically been a chore, but I'm getting into it now. Bonus! Keep up the good work, everyone!

Welcome and best wishes to you Ursula. I am back from vacation and am not all that displeased. I did not do as well as amazed but I am only up a tiny bit which could still be vacation water and bloat. I also had on more clothes than usual. I did really well at the luau but all those yummy left overs in the days following were hard to resist. I feel back in the groove and am not worried. I know it will be gone shortly. My daughter gave me WiiFit+ for Mother's day. We are having lots of fun with that. I am sure that helped me not gain too much. Happy weekend and Father's Day to you all.

I knew this was coming so I reduced my caloric intake for the week prior each day so that I had some room. We'll see how well I did on Thursday's weigh-in. I also walked a WHOLE lot at the Resort. If it helps, when I am home and the potato chips are calling my name, I drink water and then have air-popped popcorn with cooking seasonings on them. I'm trying to perfect a Ranch and cheese topping, but so far, they have too much sodium. If anyone has a recipe, I'd love to see it.

We love "confessions" I wasn't very thoughtful with my eating this weekend. We went to Peet's coffee and I got a "Freddo" I finished the whole thing and told DH I didn't really like it. CONK!!! Why didn't I just put the darned thing down? iamsally, I totally understand the "leftovers" thing! I can plan for a meal and be sooooo good but man those leftovers always seem to be calling my name. Autopia Deb, you HAD to say potato salad.....mmmmmmmmmm Liberty Belle, good for you for getting into the exercise thing! I am impressed, you can DO this! smedley, I KNOW you can make that target. You ARE normal after all I hope everyone is have a good afternoon/evening/morning

Okay, maybe they only twisted my arm a little bit. =] I am not doing very well with this diet at all this month. Working a lot more hours at work and it's just taking it's toll. I am zonked when I get home and have no energy left over so I just sit. Bad idea! But after next week one girl comes back from vacation so I won't have to put in so many hours on the job. whew!

Originally Posted By Liberty Belle >>Summer is much harder to stick to eating well<< I actually find winter harder... which is bad for both of us cos it's winter here!! :s I find I get a lot fuller easier in summer (that was good grammar, I'm too tired to fix it) and in winter I have to eat more to feel full. Ugh. Good luck!! I'm sticking to my eating plan faaaaairly well this week, but I'm a bit worried about next week... I'm on holidays (vacation?) as of Friday. Saturday I'm having a friend over for a DVD night and we'll probably have gourmet pizzas or at least get some lollies (candy?!) to go with the DVDs. Sunday the friend and I are going to Hard Rock for lunch - it's over an hour each way so I don't get there often and I tend to go a little overboard!! Monday I'm going to this really fancy hotel for high tea and staying the night - Tuesday we've got buffet breakfast included with our accom. Wednesday I'm going to visit my sister in Canberra. The plan so far consists of frozen custard, mac and cheese, spaghetti bolognese, chicos (my favourite lollies)... yes, this is all written in the itinerary. LOL! It'll also make it hard to do exercise. Good thing my sister's partner has lots of gym equipment in the house! I'm going to need it!

LibertyBelle, I never knew what lollies were. I assumed they were lollipops (another word we have for suckers, the hard candy on a stick.) I LOVE this thread! You can just be a little more thoughtful this week and have a good time next week or just be more "thoughtful." Portion control can work for me if I don't have a glass of wine first What the heck, I'll throw out another idea. At a restaurant if your friend is willing, ask for different "sides" with your meal. For instance if the fries are looking really yummy, one of you order the side green salad with dressing on the side and the other order the fries and then share. That way you cut your fry intake automatically and add some greens to your meal
