And to me they felt pretty genuine. Like honest opinions or straight facts rather than words twisted to score the highest approval ratings (There were definitely some exceptions - Home Depot?). I'm sure he's as rehearsed as anyone. He might not be "real" but he's definitely believable. Palin? Not so much.

Yes; but I thought Biden's comeback was just as good when he said that the past is the prologue to the future (or something to that effect). Indeed, because this election really is a referendum on the past 8 awful years, it’s a tough task trying to simply brush off attempts of the opposition party to invoke it, especially when you represent the party in power for all those years.

2oony, looks like you were right, so far. I've seen that clip twice this morning. Haven't seen Joe mist up yet.

Adrianna Huffington's commentary is spot-on. I'll keep reiterating what I said yesterday: you put anyone else in politics up on that stage in Palin's place, and they'd be getting ripped left and right for their rehearsed answers, their total lack of depth or understanding, and their obvious inability to govern this country.

What level would that be? Ignorant? Black and white answers to complex questions? An assumption that if we say the U.S. is number one that makes it so?

My mom's the same way. Scary. It's truly scary. And it has nothing to do with shopping at Home Depot and everything to do with thinking intelligence is "elitist" and ignorance is "folksy."

Sorry for the harsh words here, but your Mom is an idiot.

In all fairness, my Mom really likes Palin too (but she can't say why, specifically...she just likes her).

Folks...Palin is a force to be reckoned with...that's nothing to scoff at.

She can't answer the SIMPLEST question but, guess what...that doesn't matter.

What matters is that she "connects".

People like her. She's just great.

    That trumps everything else.

Then she said that she hated the fake, folksy stuff. My mom is really snobby that way and has gotten a bit racist in her old age. She really hates Obama and really has no idea about politics. She thinks Fox News really is Fair and Balanced and it's the only place she gets her news. And she really thinks there's a culture war and an attack on Xmas.

I'd really like to find some sort of analysis online that shows which person lied the most/least during this debate.

    Ugh.

    Sorry.

I was going for tongue in cheek...big mistake...I'm sorry that I said bad things about your Mom!

(I was kind of trying to joke about how regular folks like her...like "your mom", and "my Mom"...but I said "idiot" which was terrible and...well anyway I should shut up! sorry!)
