Big props to Biden for attacking Dick Cheney. I forget the exact phrasing, but it was something to the effect that Cheney was the worst VP in history. Now that was a "red meat" moment.

Did anybody else get the impression that Palin was having trouble not laughing at Biden? In some of the reaction shots of her, while he was speaking, it looked like she had this incredible smirk.

Everybody's raving about Biden's tearing up, but it seemed just as phony to me as Palin's "real folks" moments. Maybe I'm too cynical.

Best line of the night, from one of the pundits afterwards, saying that Palin did what she needed to do, by not having a "moose in the headlights" moment.

Bush is pretty inarticulate but he got almost eveything he asked for - and look where it got us.

They're Mavericks doggone it and they know some folks aren't gonna wanna do what they wanna do because of all they're old Washington ways [insert tsk-tsk finger wave here]. But the Team of Mavericks have a plan see - and if they're so blessed as to serve the American people of this fine country - there gonna get in that big ol' White House and change that ol' Constitution that the Forefathers were had such foresight about to allow for changes such as this to allow the office of the vice presidency to be more powerful so that she can do much, much more than just be the tie breaker in a close vote.

What could possibly be wrong with that? That's patriotic! Maybe that's just hard for you Liberals to wrap you're head around.

Seriously. How can conservatives sell their soul to this woman?

I do wonder what my Grandma would have done in this election though. She was a hard-core Democrat, but she did not like "those black ones" because they broke into her house and ruined her neighborhood.

She worries that the south Orange County neighborhood she lives in will go "dark" and she'll have to move.

She's going to vote for Obama. She thinks Palin is an insult to women everywhere. Go figure.

I find it funny when people on LP whine about there being so many more liberals on here. When I first started posting in 2004, I'd say that it was almost equal. I wouldn't say that that the conservatives were chased off. A few LPers, who were conservatives, are simply sick and tired of the current administration. SPP and Kar2oonMan are two that come to mind. We've lost a lot of liberals on here too. There really are only a handful of WE regulars and conservatives-at-large have played a big part in changing the ratio in WE, not just nasty liberals. I think the Beau years chased off a TON of people.

I would imagine that if McCain had selected Pawlenty or even Leiberman, while there wouldn't have been as much hoopla, there would be more passionate support for McCain.

I don't feel sorry for Palin, because she's a dunce. Filled with attitude and ambition and a ridiculous paper-thin understanding of the problems facing our nation (let alone history), she is an embarrasment.

And for that, I do feel sorry for conservatives. Each party should want their very best and brightest to represent them, and McCain robbed them of that by trying to be cute. And I don't blame them for not expending much effort defending McCain/Palin, because he left them holding the bag.

According to RoadTrip, it's all my fault.

And maybe it is, I dunno.

BUT, as I mentioned the LAST time McCain was down in the polls, they'll be back if and when McCain experiences another "surge"...which with the current crop of attack strategies starting this weekend will probably be sometime this week.

Last time, they all came back with a vengeance. It'll happen again. Watch and see.

Honest conservatives should be extremely upset with what their party has left them with. McCain has turned out to be a joke, picking Palin, selling out to the far right, and rationalizing lying, dirty attacks first by saying Obama should have agreed to Town Hall debates and now because his crap has caused him to start falling in the polls. Integrity has left the Republican building.
