Palin's husband and kids have probably had at least a little 'ramp up' time to get accustomed to the exposure of the public spotlight. But not Levi - he's being dropped in the middle of this political vortext and having a head snapping ride. And the only thing he's done is impregnate the governor's daughter.

I hope they put a microphone and camera in front him very soon. I really want to know what he has to say.

As for the rest of it - I'll give her style points, except maybe for her 'valley of the dolls' hair. She delivered her speech well enough to get the crowd riled up, but the speech itself was snide and dismissive in tone, and she's not enough of a heavyweight to be hurling insults at a US senator with over eighteen million votes behind him. I think (I hope) it backfires on them.

But since she's "come out swinging" (just like larry craig did!) it now means that Biden doesn't have to tiptoe around her delicate feminine sensibility. She got her shots off - let's see how she can roll with a punch.

And as noted, this entire convention has been entirely devoid of substance on issues. Instead it's jingoistic platitudes of patriotism, McCain's ordeal in vietnam, and knocks on Obama's character.

McCain better have some economic specifics tomorrow night, but I'm not optimistic. It would make for a dry and dull speech when they'd rather go for four alarm chili. Which means the whole convention would pass from beginning to end with nothing about the actual issues.

    Can you believe it!?

I swear I need to leave LP. I watched the convention speeches tonight in my living room and I 1) commented on their dancing, 2) created a drinking game (do a shot when an ethnic-looking person is shown in the audience), 3) Yelled at my TV about them getting us in this mess, 4) She called herself a DOG, WTH? and 5) made funny comments about passing the buck/baby.

All while you people were saying kinda sorta the SAME thing.

Ay yi yi. I need a vacation.

    You people crack me up.

But it seems more about winning an election and less about being able to govern. She will literally be one breath (of a very old dude) away from driving a nuclear superpower. This chioce puts McCain's age back on the front burner.

I would think that it's been the plan for Palin to come out swinging and McCain to come back with a more moderate tone. Biden was certainly much more combative than Obama.

If McCain is NOT more centrist tonight that will almost certainly clinch my vote for Obama. However, I do expect McCain to strike a more moderate tone and my position to remain at "leaning Obama" instead of a "confirmed Obama" voter.

What are you talkin' about, We hung Saddam Bin Laden years ago. Mission Accomplished. W. Rocks!!!!

And as far as Gov. Palin, the only thing hotter would be to see her in camo polishing a pistol.

Wheew, after thinking about that, I need to go shoot beer cans.

I thought the speech was great. She came across and confident and strong. I thought she did a great job of laying out what she did in Alaska. Of laying out the people who she is, her family. She's a regular person and that resonates with people. Biden will have his hands full in the debate she can more than hold her own. Dare I say it but Republicans may have found our Barrack Obama and the left is terrified of that.

    Something else I'm baffled about.

I was poking fun at the Repubs for creating so much interest in the Clintons' speeches, and then here comes Palin. I bet ratings for that speech were fabulous.

It seems to me they squandered that opportunity. The speech should have demonstrated that she had substance. That she really was qualified to be President. At the very least, that she was likable, reasonable, sincere and a teeny little bit Presidential.

What did they get? A female Rush Limbaugh reading a teleprompter with a voice that could cut glass. A kool-aid speech for the kool-aid addicts.

Pretty much proves that you were full of bull all that time you claimed to be "undecided".

There have been a lot of undecided Republicans in this election.

Nice to see DAR and I agree on something:

    >>Republicans may have found our Barrack Obama<<

I said the same on Monday. So, ummm, DAR, are you saying that they're both equally unqualified? Both rock stars? Both tax and spend liberals? 'Cause I thought you had a pretty low opinion of Barack Obama.

Sure, but I don't believe DAR was one of them. Not with his unabashed Obama bashing and lip service to being "undecided", all the while talking about how awful Obama was and how foolish people were to support the guy.

It took the guy all of 30 seconds after the Palin announcement to declare himself "decided", but I don't buy that for a second. Just my personal opinion, of course..and by the way as I mentioned before I really don't understand why DAR wants out (his choice, of course) but it's too bad he's not posting much because it was interesting to read some of his comments.

    Excellent question.

For a guy who had so many negative things to say about "the rock star", he sure seems please to have one of his own.

    Yeah.

***if there's going to be decent healthcare reform and the creation of jobs other than those at fast food restaurants***

Ask yourself what Bush has been doing about these issues and then factor in a 90% chance of same.

I will fully admit that there are Republicans who have not treated Barrack Obama fairly but I have not been one of them.

But compare that to the posts here about Sarah Palin they're almost gleeful in their hatred.

Quite frankly I'm tired of both sides engaging in this rhetoric and I really don't want to be a part of it anymore.

I've actually felt better posting on the boards last two days without coming in here. And it's better that I leave before I get worked up.
