    Artificial Intelligence wins America Idol.

Archuleta seems like a robot. Technically he is great, but he has no soul and his eyes seem hollow. Wind him up, push the button and he sings.

This is exactly what I am predicting! I think Jason gets a lot of the pretty boy vote from girls all over the country, but he's not in the same league as the Davids.

And as to Paula's gaff - seems she was prepared to write notes on 1st song, 2nd song. When called upon unexpectedly to comment after the 1st round, she got all flustered, looked at her notes, probably saw nothing on Jason's 2nd song (as it hadn't been sung yet), and just blustered and made up the rest, trying to keep up with the live moment. If you look back on it, as Simon is doing his shotgun review right after her, she's just completely whacked out, fumbling through her notes and freaking out, trying to catch up. Honest mistake, but a funny one!

I've heard that there's no rule about the judges seeing the rehearsals or not, so it's possible Paula DID hear Jason's second song during rehearsal, but got flustered and forgot she was only supposed to be commenting on the first one, which was ostensibly the only one she'd seen so far. She might have actually seen the second one already in rehearsal, and so was commenting on it before Ryan and Randy corrected her; AI likes to hold to the illusion that the judges are seeing these performances for the first time at the taping. Or so I've heard.

Paula is such a dingbat. LOL

This show must be getting to me because I dreamed about David Cook this morning. I don't think I've ever dreamed about any of these people before.

The only big deal is that, the production wall was broken, but it happens on nearly every live show. Cuts, edits, retakes, etc.

I believe you're correct on that, which is too bad. It would take a bit of logistical work, but with today's technology it's entirely possible to have an editor doing the edit of the recap throughout the course of the show, and then show it at the end just as it was finished. But it is easier to do it early.

I think a lot of lower level contestants audition again but I've never known a finalist to come back....

    Ugh!

I sincerely hope he goes and Syesha makes it. Aye yi yi, what a joke.

Oh by the way, hey everyone!! I haven't been able to watch AI all the way through for weeks so I haven't been commenting. LOL

It's a good thing David A didn't sing "Hungry Like the Wolf" or Labuda might have figured out a way to jump through the tv and strangle him. Love ya, Ann! ;-)

AI's ratings are dropping. The producers are commenting that they're not concerned at all: "We're still the biggest thing on TV." They say they're not planning to make any significant changes to the structure of the competition or to the format of the show (or to the cast).

But viewers are tuning out, and that's got to be a scary trend for the producers. I suspect that many viewers are dropping because they've become disenchanted with the results that the current voting system brings.

My guess is that if Jason is not voted off this week, enough viewers will quit the show that the producers will begin to re-evaluate the voting system.

He became my #3 tonight with his version of "Love Me Tender."

I thought David Cook did well, although it almost seemed like he was slightly drugged or something. Just kinda passive, but still a great singer and arranger. David A. put in another fine performance, but I just don't think he has that something that it takes to be a true pop star. And Syesha really belongs on Broadway, and I'll betcha anything that's where she ends up soon after the summer tour.

My vote for bottom 2 this week - Jason and Sayesha, with Jason going home.

My vote for final 2 - David and David, with Cook pulling it off. I actually phone voted for both of them last night, after watching the show on Tivo about an hour after it aired. It was easy getting through to David A.'s vote line, but very hard to get through to Cook. Good sign!
