I, like Simon, had hoped the Miss Florida Fair would be horrible. Unfortunaly she was pretty good.

topdisneymom, thank you for the info :)

I am so ready for next week. Bring on the good, the bad and a couple of snarky catfights ;)

That's possibly the most interesting part of the process for me, with a lot of drama (of the good and bad kinds), yet they always give it short shrift, IMO. It's interesting to see how people react to being in Hollywood (often for the first time), how they deal with being put into groups with people they do or do not like, how they try to stick out in what is still a crowded field... yet we don't get enough of that, and two nights later we're down to the final 24 all of a sudden.

I'd rather see, at most, 6 nights of the initial auditions, and 2 more nights of Hollywood week.

ALL of the montages are like this. They teach the song to bad singers, don't give them enough time to learn the song, then laugh at them when they don't get it right. I think the montages are the worst part of the audition shows.

I do the same thing, skipping over the sob stories and all the background for people I don't really care about. If the person makes it further in the competition, we'll see all of those back stories again, anyway. And I'm getting to where I skip over most of the bad auditions, too!

I missed the group thing this year. Did anyone else?

Does anyone else think the girl from Ireland looks like Boy George? My DH doesn't agree and the kids don't know who he is. Also, her tongue was blue, and we were wondering if people are getting tongues tattooed now. DS said she probably had some blue candy before she sang. (But, every time?)
