I enjoyed watching last night. I like the newish format and there wasn't too much goofy stuff. I don't get why they replay stuff from the first auditions, maybe a quick clip to remind us but I don't need to see so much of it to remember.

The young blond kid is starting to get on my nerves. Maybe I'm just seeing too much of him.

I'm sure it was some sort of lozenge because there were a couple of others with blue tongues, too.

Yeah, I am not really into the young blonde kid either.

Even though I like the rock nurse with the black hair, I wouldn't be able to stand song after song of her.

mele, I agree with you about the rock nurse. She is good but I don't know if she can hang in there. I really like her personality so far.

I like the girl with the long curly hair that seems to like stripes and there was one other girl, shoot, I need to go on the Idol website before I post, I can't even describe her.

OK, checked the IDOL website, the girl with the curly hair is Brooke White, the other 2 I like are Natashia Bla-- (shoot can't read my own writing) and Ramiele Malubay. For some reason I was paying more attention to the girls than the guys last night.

I like the Aussie and Archuleta kid, too.

It does seem to be better talent this year than the last 2 years at least, but I guess it will show when we get to the small stage and eventually main stage. Looking to be a better season than last.

I HOPE the rocker nurse makes it. There's something about her that's genuine, that I really like. She obviously likes Janis, but sounds more like Melissa E. Her weakness, which Simon pointed out, is she needs to modulate the performance more, which Janis always knew how to do, but early Melissa didn't - too often she'd start at "10" and have nowhere to go. But if this girl can learn how to mix it up a bit... I like her.

I like the Australian guy. I also like the girl who blew out "Chain of Fools" after being hoarse before. That was one of those performances that pushes you back in your chair a little and makes you go "whoa." (in a good way).

The blond kid annoyed me too at the end; not because of the crying, but because he thought he was so "brave" to sing a capella, when EVERYONE has done so at some point, and the only reason he did so here was because he couldn't get it together with the band. I was surprised they let him stay, actually; I thought his earlier performances were okay, but kind of overrated by the judges.

The only one I was glad to see dismissed was the girl (the beauty queen?) who did "Unchained Melody," Simon inexplicably said "yes" (thinking with his other brain, perhaps), Randy said "no" and then the beauty queen said "Give me another chance, Paula." Not asking nicely, but more like a command! Paula said "no" and I was glad.

Which would have been totally ridiculous cause that performance was horrible. I don't think Simon was "thinking with his other brain" like another poster said. To me it seemed that Simon said yes (knowing Randy would say no) just to put the decision squarely in Paula's lap. I think Simon has had it with Paula being mealy-mouthed with low/no talent contestants and this was his way of highlighting how absurd the result would be if she kept doing that.

And I agree with the other poster who said the contestant was basically "commanding" Paula to let her through. That left a very bad taste in my mouth. Totally came across as a brat having a temper tantrum. And people say all sorts of bad things about Paula being a drunk or stupid or being a "has-been" and all other sorts of things but I think she is nice and has a kind heart and I think it's disgusting when contestants try to manipulate her and take advantage of her just because she's nice and doesn't want to crush anyone's dreams.

Sorry for not giving credit where credit was due. It was partially due to laziness (not wanting to go back and re-read to find the quote) and partially due to, okay, you got me - it was allll due to laziness. LOL. I'll try to be better.
