That number may disappoint some, but not me.

It also isn't likely to top the opening weekend record set by "Spider-man 3", but that likely doesn't mean all that much.

Obviously, the real question is whether or not the film will continue to draw in big audiences over the next couple weeks or if it will suffer really steep drop offs. A lot probably will depend on whether or not the fans enjoy it enough to want to go back for repeat viewings. It did bode well that there were several people at the showing I attended yesterday that clearly had already seen it Thursday night...

Oh, I did forget about that. That was pretty gross, but for me, it was really the only "gross" thing in the movie (and since I forgot about it, it couldn't have affected me too badly!) The toe didn't bother me at all because it just seemed so "fake". Jack licking the brain kind of made me laugh! Maybe I'm just sick??

It wasn't anything that I was upset with my 9 year old son seeing. The hanging scene at the beginning set the tone for just how bad things had got and actually with the song, I think was one of the best scenes in the show. I was worried when I saw the boy being led to the gallows, but with the song, it became a very powerful scene. It brought me to tears.

There wasn't MUCH from the ride, but I suppose by the time you've got through two other movies there's not a lot left to include without it looking forced. <<

LB, think to the scene when Elizabeth, Will, Hector, et al go off "The World's End" and the screen goes white. That's where you'll find the soundbites from the original ride soundtrack including Captain Red Bows "Bloomin' Cockroaches!" line and a "Dead Men Tell No Tales."

I truly hope they end the films with this one. To me, it knit things up fairly tidily. It put Jack, Hector and Joshamee pretty much back where we first met them and the romantic couple are together after a fashion.

156.1 million since Thursday for Pirates. An excellent figure for the movie.

    1. The hanging scene at the beginning especially with the child
    2. The looking up Elizabeth's "robe" in the bath house
    3. The shooting of the woman in the head in the bath house
    4. The attempt of "rape" between Chow Yun Fat and Elizabeth
    5. Will feeling up Elizabeth's leg at the end
We all realize that it's a PG-13 rating but when you have teenages saying, "Hey, that's not very Disney-ish" and I don't feel that should have put that in the move", it makes you think twice about Disney being a "cut above the rest".
We all enjoyed the special effects (minus the Stay Puffed-Godzilla 50 Foot Woman part) a bit grade "B" for Disney. Over all though, a great action packed movie and very nifty special effects.
Oh, two questions my son has: 1.) Davy Jones came ashore in a bucket of water to speak with Elizabeth, Barbosa and Jack, how come Will can't do that? (2.) In DMC Will was on board the Flying Dutchman with his father, how come Elizabeth can't do the same with Will?

The opening lines; "Sir! They've started to sing!" "Finally!" sucked me right in. I thought that was an excellent set-up. My biggest disappointment with all 3 films is that we don't have a whole pirate crew in a scene singing "A Pirate's Life for Me." I would just love that.

Give the writers some slack. They used a lot of their best ideas on the first movie and it must be hard to keep coming up with the same energy level and humor over and over.

I loved the references to Peter Pan, such as the duel between Jack and Davey Jones on the mast. Davey Jones even taunts him about being a bird that can't fly - reminded me of Captain Hook. Also, Smee/Gibbs sleeping with a teddy bear was anachronistic but cute. Such a lost boy thing to do.

I think Will wanted the Black Pearl because it was the only ship fast enough to catch the Flying Dutchman. If there was another reason, I'd like an explanation too.

I thought the scene where Barbossa grabbed the eyeball and put it in his mouth and shoved it in the eye socket was hilarious. It was like he was trying to make it really stick.

This movie played with my brain more, and took more risks, and I appreciate that. The multi-Jack scene is even funnier the second time because you can focus on background Jacks. (Did you see the one wearing his sash like a diaper?) The scene where Elizabeth meets Bootstrap Bill and he starts to repeat the whole conversation is unnecessary but riveting. I was wondering if they were going to go through the whole thing.

And I loved the marriage ceremony. Barbossa is a great character and I'm glad I got to see more of him.

Davey Jones was not fulfilling his "mission" of ferrying the dead to the "other side." As one of the characters explained somewhere, if Will does take on this mission, Elizabeth cannot go with him.

Interesting article on why Part 3 of a movie usually suffers in terms of quality.
