But, no big government and being fiscally conservative like they used to be are good things IMO.

Bush IS a Neo-con, but not in the non-existing evil way in which liberals have attempted to label him, obviously to make ammends for the way in which they have been labeled liberal, which they hate. However, Bush's social programs and liberal tendencies to help the poor and less fortunate with liberal style programs has angered many Conservatives. It realy is funny how the left has convinced many that bush is some kind of Right-wing nut, when he is liberal in many ways. Also, cmpaley, i can assure you that republicans care about abortion because we believe it is wrong. Many republican leaders are religious, as you say you are, and had deeply held beliefs on the issue before they were every elected. I believe that people like Al Gore, are the ones who changed their minds on the issue as to gain votes. You know, those democrats who abandoned their deeply held beliefs that abortion was wrong, once the found out it wasnt a popular stance to have in their party.

I also respect their concern for the environment, and some medical issues. When i think about it, there are actually many, many things that irespect about the concerns of democrats, sometimes I just disagree with the solution. I wish we could get back to the days when we just disagreed with each other, instead of demonizing our opponents. The diferences between our 2 parties are realy sooo minute when compared to other countries.
