It's not entertaining, it's not productive and overall it's harmful for the rest of us because there's a certain ignorant segment of people out there that eat up every bit of throw up these guys produce, and then they act on it. If this is how "political discourse" is going to be had for the next several, people like this better not whine and cry when the left finally has enough and fights back.

Originally Posted By SingleParkPassholder "Pass...didn't a certain comedian who did basically the same thing for the liberal (including a stint on Air America) just become a Congressman?" This assumes some things- none of which are true. 1) that I endorse Franken, 2) that Franken behaved in a constant reckless manner and then hid behind the "but I'm a comedian!" skirt and 3) that there's really any real comparison between Al Franken and Glenn Beck professionaly in any capacity. Finally, Glenn Beck doesn't have nearly any the kind of courage or balls necessary to put himself out there and run for office.

Originally Posted By SingleParkPassholder "What in my sentence makes it seem as if to say that I think you endorsed Franken? I don't even know where you live." Then why even bring him up? He's got no relevance to Glenn Beck, none. "If either one of you thinks that Glenn Beck is the same person off air as he is on you are on crack. The reason the "stars" are stars is that they understand their audience and give them what they want." You're missing the point about the Beck criticism. Who cares what he's like off-mike? It's what he does on the air that makes him so wrong.

A pop starlet dresses like a whore? Our kids dress like whores. Well, there certainly CAN'T be a connection. A sports star does steroids and our kids do steroids. Well, sports stars aren't role models so we CAN'T blame them. Yet, you blame Beck for behaving in a reckless manner. Do we have free speech in America or do we not? Assuming we do then I have to tune out Wolf...you have to tune out Glenn and we can't get bogged down in what everyone else is doing.

Sure, Beck and the others are free to say what they want, and we're free to tune them out. But we're also free to call them on it when they say something we object to. Beck (and the others) doesn't get to have it both ways. He can't bleat and bray at the moon night after night, fostering fear and distrust and paranoia and then be totally blameless when the anger he is helping whip up turns ugly... or worse. If he is doing all of this and, as you say, doesn't really believe a word of what he says, that makes it all the worse.

Actually, I didn't sign off on celebrities getting by with bad behavior either but any time I have that type of a conversation (movies/video games/celebrities) having a bad impact on society I get shot down. "People/parents should be responsible for themselves/their children." I hear it all the time. I absolutely think we should be free to call him and all of them on it.

There is no real leadership in the party right now and that is painfully obvious. Just the fact that Palin is still talked about is sad enough.

He's a piss poor political commentator, and a cowardly one at that, who hides behind the cheap skirt of "I'm an entertainer" when says or does something asinine. Diito for Limbaugh.
