Walmarting doesn't have to happen. It's a conscious decision.) There are just basic things that WDW can no longer get right ... from parking lots in desperate need of total repaving (EPCOT, which has had some work, would fall into this category) to the worst SQS of any/every Disney Resort worldwide (should I be happy the angler fish has now worked on two trips over three months?) No, WDW isn't falling apart (well, parts are but most surely isn't). But going to the dogs? If you're comparing it to say 1971-1996 standards, then I'd say it absolutely is.

The lobby there has a very special smell of wood fire and spices. And I came across exactly the same smell once in a restaurant in London called Giraffe.

There is no way Disney is using untreated swamp water. That just can't be happening. And it still doesn't explain why you get that smell on attractions like the American Adventure which has no water feature. I'm still not convienced it's not some disenfinctant or something. In terms of the cleanliness of the parks. Yes, Disney isn't steam cleaning the sidewalks of Main Street everynight like they use to. But on the other hand they have more parks, more hotel properties, more DVCs than they ever had in the 90s.

I know very few people who frequent WDW and compulsively complain about the place.

I enjoy going to WDW and because I'm not completely pleased with various things on property doesn't mean I have to stop going. For example, I on a budget and I like queen size beds... so I don't stay at Disney hotels when visiting WDW, I'm not happy about the Disney meal plan ( I never get one), lack of sitdown table availability, price, quality of food on property. SO..... most of my meals are off property. I'm not pleased about the lack of choices, or price of Disney merchandise on property. So, I will check out the discount malls first for Disney tee shirts and stuff. And yeah, I have lots to say when I don't see being fixed, repaired, replaced, repainted, dirty, broken, things that absolutely don't make sense ( pooh playground used by no one, Magic Hat obscuring the view of the Chinese Theater, DHS being half empty or half full, staying at AKL and you still can't get table service at one of the onsite restaurants because people with the meal plan booked resevations a year in advance, dressing monorails up for the latest Disney movie promotion, inflatable Disney characters "looming" over Tomorrowland, Disney character crash scenes complete with Police tape in downtown Disney, "Spitting" Disney characters, christmas trees in Downtown Disney catching fire from the christmas lights, monorail fatalities because of lack of staff, staff exhaustion and just plain irresponcibility on the part of management, all the roads shut down for the Disney property marathon of the month, Fantasmic running only two or three times a week instead of twice a night. And yes I till keep going to WDW, but now my visits are fewer ( I didn't got at all in 2010 ). Why go back more frequently when there are no new attractions or rides? So have my spending habits changed while taking a WDW vacation, absolutely!

For that matter there are plenty of people that go to WDW and seldom go in the parks and instead tend to spend time at a onproperty resort and various golf courses. WDW hosts many sporting events and such at their World of Sports venue so there are some people who never enter a Disney park. How about people shopping in Downtown Disney and don't go in the parks?
Originally Posted By Dr Hans Reinhardt "So have my spending habits changed while taking a WDW vacation, absolutely!" Same here. I haven't been to WDW in almost 10 years and DLR (which is about 400 miles from where I live) in almost 3. My visits are waaaay down, compared to what they were back in the 80s and 90s. It's like some people have made a career of keeping track of the resorts on a regular basis and reporting every little detail that is out of place. It's kind of silly to me that we should be concerned about the state of EPCOT's parking lot pavement.
