One of the downsides of the new media world in which we now live is that people can easily filter the input of facts and data in a way that it supports whatever views they already have. All of your news can be obtained through the prism you choose, and spun to your own personal liking as perhaps never before. I don't think that's healthy for a democracy, let alone for an individual person, but I also don't know that there's anything that can be done about it. Just-the-facts-ma'am news reporting is in rather short supply and simply does not attract the ratings numbers that more politicized, choose-yer-sides coverage does.

But I seriously think they like the ratings Glenn brings, so deliberately ignore the bad stuff, while promoting the less controversial things," I think you're absolutely right based on what I learned from a friend who followed Beck for a day to photograph him for a Time magazine feature. He said afterwards that Beck told him it's an act he puts on. Take what you will from that, but being the eternal optimist that I am, I hope that means that Beck doesn't believe all that he spews. OTOH, how danged scary is it if he doens't believe it, but is spewing that filth day in and day out? Soulless, anyone?
