She still doesn't have a fever or anything else to say she's sick. I've remade the bed...the top bunk, remember???...and she's in it, but she has to wake up in an hour anyway to get ready for school. Oh, and the sheets (for both her bed AND her sister's bed, because, well, it's difficult to aim when you're getting sick) are in the washer, and I'll hang them up outside before we leave today. Guess what? It's supposed to RAIN today. *sigh* Here's thinking good thoughts for the rest of the day.

No. "Alex," I say, "if I pick you up, Mommy has to miss class, and has to pick up your sister and when we get home, you will take medicine and go to bed. No questions. Do you want me to pick you up?" No. OK I get to class at 11:50, then to my second at 1:30. At 2:26, I get a call (thank goodness I had it on vibrate). It's the school. I let it go to voice mail, then I'm distracted for the rest of class. Do I go out? Check the message? I know what it's going to say. Should I just leave? He lets us out 5 minutes early at 2:50. I check the VM. "This is Mrs. ... at the school. We have Alex here. Please pick her up as soon as possible." I call. "I'll be there in 45 minutes." I call when I'm 2 minutes out (and it's only taken 25 minutes to get home...a record, I think). She says she'll have her waiting. I get there. I wait. And wait. And wait. I go in. "She went to get her backpack." O.M.G. If Alex knew I was picking her up, why didn't she bring everything? She comes to the car. She can't find her bag. I tell her to check the classroom where the kids are (they're in the afterschool program at this point). She finally comes back. She's got it. We get home. I tell her she can take a bubble bath. Her sister wants in too. Fine. Then they fight. Alandra wants out. Fine. They're both out. Soup for dinner. Sharks are losing. Cloudy so far so I can't see the eclipse. Did I mention the Sharks are losing? And I may have to call in sick again tomorrow for Alex. OH..and I find out today that the IRS is holding my tax refund for a tax debt my ex husband incurred when we were married. So, looks like (1) I can't pay back my grandma the $300 I borrowed from her and (2) no Disneyland in March. So, nope..it didn't get better.

Usually, my ped is really slow and can get us in and out in less than 1/2 an hour, but today he was packed, and they were turning people away, making appointments for tomorrow morning. Ok, here's the rundown: Alandra: 37 inches, and 35-ish pounds. Has a cold. Still coughing. We were prescribed cough medicine and ibprofine. We also got Pedialyte, just in case. Alex: Didn't get her stats. Had a fever of 105. Before he even looked at her, said he would rx antibiotics, since her fever indicates that it's not viral anymore, and then looked in her ears. Poor baby has a BAD ear infection in her left ear. Still coughing, too. We were prescribed antibiotics and Tylenol, which I have to give her ever 4 hours, with a sponge bath in between each dose. He also had us go to the hospital for a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia. Dropped off the scripts at the pharmacy. Went to the hospital. Poor baby was getting worse by the minute, finally she fell asleep in the hospital chair. We get in and out, and go to pick up the scripts. Well, I only got Alandra's!!! And I didn't realize until we were half way home. So I called, and they will be delivering them in about 2 hours. I prefer the Target pharmacy, but it's farther away, and I didn't want to take Alex out anymore. So I like that I have the other pharmacy that will deliver. So, we're home, and Alex is back in her jammies on the couch. Alandra had some cereal for lunch and I gave them both the ibprofine. Let's just hope they both get better enough to go back to school on Monday. I've already missed 3 days of work.

She's already spoiled and wants her new Starbuck's Gift Card.
