Some memorable scenes that used CGI in traditional animation are: the Big Ben chase in TGMD, the giand Ursula scene in TLM, "Beauty and the Beast" from BATB, the revolving shot on Pride Rock and the stampede from TLK, the Cave of Wonders in Aladdin, and most of the Firebird Suite from Fantasia 2000. Of course, these are only the ones that I could quickly come up with off the top of my head, but there have been many, many uses for Disney's CGI.

I saw a commercial for The Wild and I'm not sure but it does seem like a Madagascar rip off.. and is that Robin Williams doing the voice of the popcorn box wearing Koala?? He was in Madagascar as a Lemur. I love Lemurs.. and Koalas (I also have a thing for penguins) but you know what I'm getting at here..

not enough originality. The Wild. Hoodwinked. Over the Hedge (?) That last one is about snacking raccoons right?? or a bear.. that lives in someones house? or is it.. see?? I'm really not trying to be obtuse, I just can't keep the films straight.

Good thing ICE AGE came out a couple years ago. =P (hoping Scrat gets his acorn this time out!)

What I AM against is the current thinking in Hollywood, which seems to be the complete replacement of traditional animation with frivolous nonsense like the upcoming "The Wild",and the fact that the Walt Disney Company, which helped to make American animation an art form,is participating in this trend!!!

Well, that's not quite accurate. What the Rescuers Down Under was first at was using the CAPS system to color the cels. Basically removing the hand inking process that had been done on every feature up to that point. There was some CGI used in the film though, most notably the opening shots flying towards Red Rock.

Might be more interesting if the lead character who has to find his son wasn't a big lion but a reluctant hero.... Now wait a minute; where have I seen THAT plot before???? In some fish story.

It's gotta be difficult to come up with movie ideas.

What about getting smashed in the privates WHILE breaking wind? That would add, like, a whole new layer. Or, characters could just get smashed -- I loved Foster Brooks. Imagine an animated Foster Brooks.... now that's comedy!

But seriously, it would be nice to break from the familiar buddy comedy or Shrek lampoons the fairy tales formula. I think the Incredibles broke new ground in this regard, but I'd be interested in seeing something totally different, too.

THANK YOU. Sure, it's the Dreamworks formula, but everyone has been going there. One thing I'm hoping the Pixarization of Disney can achieve is the realization of corporate brass that it's not about CGI--the film can be traditional animation or something else entirely, but what is important is writing & character!
