Patrick, it's useless to even debate this with you if that's the best you can come up with.

In an earlier post, you mentioned all the rainbow paraphernalia you see in CA. When you do encounter this, what goes through your mind? Do you simply disregard it and go on your merry way or do you feel a touch of hostility? Can you live and let live?

Please explain how equal protection of the law is absurd. I can't see how applying the law equally to all citizens regardless of gender could possibly be a bad thing.

Unfortunately, their end of the spectrum holds the political power - for now. This can only be explained by a cynical but deft manipulation of that segment of the voters who lack the ability to reason, along with a hefty helping of corrupt politics.

Karl Rove has spent his entire career using the "gay agenda" as a wedge issue to corral conservative voters over to the GOP. Notice that once the `04 election was complete, bush et al haven't had a single thing to say about gay issues. There's no need any longer - they've already accomplished what they set out to do - not to prohibit gay marriage, but to get bush re-elected.

But as a consequence of this GOP ploy, conservatives are now emboldened into publicly stating their narrow-minded beliefs that gay men are second class americans that are undeserving of basic civil rights and equality. Curiously, a double standard still seems to exist about lesbians, presumably because straight people must think lesbians are like what they see in porn movies. If they ever met any REAL lesbians, they'd be even more afraid of them than they are of gay men - but for now at least, women are still perceived as "non-threatening. If they only knew ...

So patrick and others, as far as I'm concerned, feel free to keep posting your ugly little beliefs, and keep slapping each other on the back over what "great americans" you all are. The rest of us need to continually hear the din of the 'other side' as a reminder of the proud ignorance we're up against.

The political right these days are the masters at inventing issues to get people riled up. They decide something's outrageous, invent a controversy that doesn't exist, then throw a temper tantrum and label everyone who doesn't agree with them as evil.

It's like the "happy holidays" thing instead of Merry Christmas. This was a non-issue until conservatives suddenly decided that everyone and his uncle was going to hell if they said happy holidays. I'd never even noticed whether someone said holidays or Christmas before, but next thing you know, the issue is being shoved down our throats.

They invent nonsense, then when people don't go along, say they aren't patriotic. Unreal.

It's the same argument that people who used the word "uppity" in front of a racial epithet used fifty years ago.

I think I'll start calling him Beau Connor.

LOL! Ain't it the truth? "Happy Holidays" has been around at least in all of the 43 years I've been alive, usually meaning Merry Christmas AND a Happy New Year all in one breath. But a phony controversy over it was whipped up by Fox News and the talk radio bunch. I guess that jazz plays to some in the choir.

The funniest moment in the whole thing was when Tom Sawyer linked to the Bill O'Reilly site, whhere you could buy a genuine "O'Reilly Factor holiday ornament for your holiday tree." LOL! After all the barking at the moon over it, his own site was "pc."

    So true, gadzuux.

Over the Holidays I was visiting my mom and I was flipping through the channels. I stopped at a funny skit that caught my attention on the Ellen Show. As I'm laughing my mom says, "You like Ellen?...But she's Gay." And I all I could say was, "So...."
And the conversation quickly changed subjects.

The first thing I thought of (yes I know it's trivial) was I guess I wasn't going to introduce her to my recently discovered Six Feet Under addiction. If she can't take Ellen she won't be able to take David and Keith.

Last weekend we went to see King Kong and we passed by the Brokeback Mountain poster. She surprised me by saying she wanted to see it. It was a good sign. Maybe I'll see if she can handle Six Feet Under.

Although I know many share the same views as Patrick and Beau, I'm sure there are many more out there like my mother who may be more open to the idea but are still uncomfortable with it because they were never challenged to think differently. Some people seem so stuck in their ways it's practically no use. Like patrick, beau and my 79 year old grandmother.

Translation: Your not going to be PC and say anal gay sex and NAMBLA is perfectly fine, so I am going to pretend your opinion is beneath mine and play the game that your posts are a joke.

Lame STPH... you with no real opinion or the ability to forward a conversation.

Last time I checked gay marriage was losing at the ballot 70 - 30%, yet the libs on here, and STPH, your the biggest lib I see these days, want us to never question the fact that being gay equals no kids, shorter life span, high HIV/ AIDS, depression, suicide, and a direct command from the Bible that homosexual acts is against the will of god.

Since God and the Bible are all a big joke to the libs you can forget the last example and keep going to those churches that ignore the Bible.

But you can stop acting offended that people don't buy hook, line and sinker that being gay is a beautiful, healthy, great way to live without any downside.

People could care less who is gay these days. They do care that they are being forced to say being gay is a great thing and a great way to live. They also really resent that their kids are being told that being gay is a great thing when we all know it really isn't.

Keep trying to intimidate people who say they don't agree with all things gay and the next gay marrige election will be 90-10%.
