Now by a show of hands, which statement displays the most love?

I don't think it's a big deal if it was just a miscalculated business decision that no one was going to show up for Brokeback Mountain, but if he's going to try and take the moral high ground he should at least be more consistent. Why not just show family films? I would respect that.

In the words of Pogo Possum, *can't we all just get along?*. Oh! wait! That wasn't Pogo, it was whats-his-name.

Given that he's refused to comment, we can open it up to speculation. I'm a Mormon (though obviously not in the same camp as the Larry Millers of the world) and am more than familiar with my own church's uber-paranoia toward gays. I sit in church every sunday and listen to the ignorant dribble that pours out of people's mouths about homosexuality. It's bigotry, pure and simple - no different than the same bigotry my church displayed for over 100 years in denying African Americans leadership roles and priesthood. This didn't change until 1978 - years after so many other changes had taken place in the civil rights movement. And if you just think homosexuality is disgusting, then you're even worse than religious people who believe it because some authority figure whose brain is no bigger than theirs tells them to. It's no different than 50 years ago when people would insist they weren't prejudiced, but said it's "disgusting" that white women dated black men.

No one's saying that everyone MUST see it. I have no problem with those who choose not to go, but I do feel that the theater owner is hypocritical and a small-minded bigot.

But because someone decided to not show the movie, they must be bigots and small minded. Im sure he didnt show Dust to Glory either but I dont see a big thread about that. So you might say that its just a movie about off-road racing. But tell that to a sierra club member. They will tell you how off road racers are the devil destroyers and should be beaten and banished. It may not seem like the same thing but it is.
