That's why I refuse to wait and see. Once Stitch is in there, all the Ohana in the world won't get him back out.

Kidding, kidding. LOL! I feel the characters if added in the style of Mary Blair and made to blend in may look OK but with regard to the added music to the ride I hope this is just for the HK version. Here's hoping the ride isn't butchered too much.

The updating of effects (the air cannons that hit you in the battle scene come to mind) was great and more than welcome, but I really think that the overall attraction has really been cheapened with the addition of the Jack Sparrow figures and new dialogue. Where before I could easily ride it every trip, now I only go every second or third trip, and mostly out of obligation. It just isn't as interesting with the forced storyline as it was when you got to string the scenes together how you saw fit.

I predict Johnny Depp's "sell by" date is going to be shorter than they realize. Floating Leota is as Disney as it gets, but the attic has lost much of its kinetic appeal and fun, and nobody notices the pictures in the lobby anymore. As for the Jungle Cruise, I recall being unimpressed, but I just don't recall why - I rarely do that ride. It's not like there's a high technological benchmark there. I just don't think the current crop of Imagineers are putting sufficient thought into analyzing WHY the attractions work and WHY they are designed the way they are. They just march in and plus 'em, then try to justify it after the fact, when all the criticism starts. And this iasw thing is a particularly egregious example. And one of my points to not changing IASW is that they really need to leave at least one "classic Disney" attraction alone (nonplussed, if you will), and IASW is the best (and one of the only) remaining candidates. You wanna put in more dolls? More motion? More decorations? More eye-candy? More geese? Go for it. But adding characters changes the fundamental nature of the attraction. It's like adding Baloo to Bambi. The Bambi universe was meticulously crafted, and Baloo just doesn't belong there. Even though they're both animals and both in the forest.

The more I ride the new POTC, the more I hate the changes. One Jack Sparrow would be fine, but 3? I mean, come on. That's just overkill! The worst changes, however, are at the beginning. I HATE the Davy Jones mist screen effect. It is horribly done and just does not fit in with the ride. The way that cavern used to be, riding in the dark with creepy voices warning you about things to come, was great. I also hate the changes to the battle scene. Barbossa would be fine, but Geoffrey Rush's voice sounds completely bored and uninspired. The previous captain actually sounded like he was in battle commanding a ship full of pirates. And the music in this scene is so loud and intrusive to the overall feeling. That music just does not fit in with everything that's going on in that scene. With all that said, I am not completely against the changes to IASW. I think the Stitch addition is AWFUL, but having just Lilo wouldn't be bad. Alice actually looks good, so I would assume that any other human character additions would be ok. I understand the people saying that this will change the theme of the ride, but I am just not convinced yet that this will do that. There are hundreds of dolls in IASW, and the addition of 5-10 new ones will not overwhelm the entire ride. But, do we even know what additions will be coming to the DL IASW? I believe Alice was confirmed, but isn't everything else just rumor right now?

I tried to think of human child Disney characters that would be perhaps semi-acceptable in that they might at least possibly blend in, and only thought of a few... Alice, Peter Pan, Pinocchio as real boy, Mowgli, Lilo without Stitch. But I certainly couldn't think of 38. Adult characters (even young adults like the various princesses) would be horribly out of place, and animal characters tend to have a "look" to them that is anthropomorphic and not very Mary Blair. (None of the animals currently in iasw wear clothes, for instance, I don't think.) If they kept it to human child characters - Alice in England, Mowgli in India - okay. They don't add a dang thing, IMO, but okay. But adding adults and clothes-wearing animals not only doesn't add anything; at that point it takes away from what this ride is supposed to be.
