The first thing you need to do is to talk with your boss, manager or whoever else may be in charge. I'm not sure just how much time your DH is trying take off but many employers are sympathetic in situations like this and try to work with their employees. Approach them with your tentative dates, be honest and open to compromise. You might be pleasantly surprised...also do not put this off while you wait for approval on your DH's leave. It's easier to make small changes than it is to request the exact dates you will need at the last minute.
