Matt Giraud: sings Viva la Vida. Horribly pitchy, and totally frantic, like he had ice cubes in his pants or something.

Jeanine Vailes: sings This Love. Another pitchy performance. I think the worst of the night. Sorry Jeanine.

Nick Mitchell, or should I say Norman Gentile: sings something. LOL. Utter craziness. Loved it.

Allison Iraheta: sings Alone. WOW, that was totally GUTSY! Unbelievable she is just 16! Best of the night for me.

Kris Allen: sings Man In The Mirror. Started tentatively, but picked it up. Pretty good comparatively, but IMO he'll have to hope for the third spot.

Megan Joy Corkrey: sings Put Your Records On. She looked awkward. Her voice is quirky. Not my bag. Good, but she'll be fighting for the third spot too.

Matt Britzke: sings If You Can Only See. His voice was too "clean." Not enough spark.

Jesse Langseth: sings Betty Davis Eyes. I don't know what to say other than I liked her personality more than her performance.

Kai Kalama: sings What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted. He was "good" but too old fashioned and boring for me.

Mishavonna Henson: sings Drops Of Jupiter. I rather liked it, but probably not in the top three.

Adam Lambert: in the pimp spot with Satisfaction. A bit over the top for me, and I really don't like the tone of his voice, but I suspect he'll be the top guy.

I think Allison should be the top vote "getter" but I know how the votes usually go.

What in the heck was Megan doing while she was singing? To me it looked like she was a 2 year old trying to do the twist or she had to go potty. Ryan said something about "corking" or a word like that.

And that the first singer both weeks is a pretty good singer set up to be a sacrificial lamb to get blasted by the judges more than she should have been (neither was great, but neither was awful). Hmmmm...

Jasmine Murray, Love Song. As I said, not great, but not awful - not deserving of the trashing she got from the judges.

Matt Giraud, Viva la Vida. Bye bye, Matt.

Jeanine Vailes, This Love. Really off-key much of the way. Ah, Jeanine, we hardly knew ye.

Nick Mitchell, And I Am Telling You. Okay, he's fun. But he just doesn't have a good enough voice to be anything but a comedy singer. That's why he does this - it's his only shot. If he somehow makes the top 12, he could stick around longer than you think, getting just enough votes each time for 5-6 weeks to become this year's Sanjaya. You KNOW "Vote for the Worst" would embrace him. But with this year's format, I don't think he makes the top 12, because I don't think the judges will bring him back as a wild card ahead of some of the others. Simon definitely won't, so that would pretty much mean all the other 3 would have to.

Allison Iraheta, Alone. Not the best version of this I've heard, even on Idol, but very very good nonetheless. At places her 16-year-old voice betrayed her, but if she can sing THAT song that well at 16, most other songs are going to be no problem. And she's a good performer.

Kris Allen, Man In The Mirror. Good ending, really wobbly beginning. Probably not good enough to last.

Megan Joy Corkrey, Put Your Records On. I thought she started well, had the right attitude, the right quirkiness in the voice, and she's definitely attractive - I understood Kara's comment about being potentially a total package - but faltered near the end. Still, I bet she makes it.

Matt Britzke, If You Can Only See. Bad song choice (in a night full of them). I like this guy, but I think he's gone.

Jesse Langseth, Bette Davis Eyes. I'll ditto trekkeruss - good personality, so-so performance.

Kai Kalama, What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted. I liked him better than the judges, who were too harsh on him. It was almost like they've decided he should be gone, and tagged him with "old fashioned" to ensure it.

Mishavonna Henson, Drops Of Jupiter. Pretty good. And I like her persona, she seems genuine. Borderline.

Adam Lambert, Satisfaction. Simon nailed it; at times great, at times wha?!? He started out more Elvis than Jagger, but he demonstrated his very impressive range and pure tone, and will probably be the top guy.

Simon's love/hate comments aside, the others loved Adam, so I see him going through. (And if he doesn't, Paula will definitely bring him back).

Among the women, the judges liked Allison and Megan best, and at this point with many people not having favorites yet, the judges' comments count for a lot in terms of votes, I think. I see one of those two being the top girl, and the other the 3rd place overall. Outside shot for Mishavonna.

My favorite girl was Allison. It is hard to believe she is only 16.

My third pick would be Kris. I thought he did a good job. I also liked Megan, but parts of that song were not good and that twisting was distracting.

We were surprised how well Allison did. When she said she was singing 'Alone' my husband and I groaned but she did a great job. She's definitely 16, though, and I think she needs a makover ASAP.

I thought Megan's hair looked awful. She is so very pretty but, to me, her hair looked trashed. I also thought her singing was irritating.

Man, the past two AI shows have been painful.

Jeanine Vailes, This Love. Wow, did sheforget how to sing in the last week - what a 1,2,3 start for this week- yuck.

Nick Mitchell, And I Am Telling You. enough is enough for this idiot -please let his 15minutes be up.

Allison Iraheta, Alone. As good as she was - should be a lesson to other singers - if you're going to try and do Ann Wilson stuff - you better bring your A game and then some. My fave female of the night though

Kris Allen, Man In The Mirror. for the cleancut boy bandvoters likelyOK- I thought it was very forgetable

Megan Joy Corkrey, Put Your Records On. Okay- she gorgeous- can the judges getpast that - she was 4rdbest female tonitebut might move on because she is very easy on theeyes.

Matt Britzke, If You Can Only See. It's been nice knowing you Matt - take care

Jesse Langseth, Bette Davis Eyes. I really liked thesultry performance and the growl in her voice. If she was as goodlooking as Megan- they'd be falling all over her...2nd best female for me tonight

Kai Kalama, What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted. I liked him better than the judges, who were too harsh on him. I too likedthis performance andI thought he sang it with emotion - this is one ofmy all time fave songs. One thing though singing Motown solo - you realize how impecably producedthose records were.

Mishavonna Henson, Drops Of Jupiter. OK- but I have 3 other girls ahead of her

Adam Lambert, Satisfaction. very much the skilled performer with the modern lookthey want - here's easily the top guy of the nite

So it's Adam and Allison for me - and I would like Jesse, but it likely will be Megan

He was the best guy last night, however. I will be shocked if he doesn't make it through.

I was really, really sick last night so I only heard the performances. I glanced at the tv every once and awhile but didn't see any entire performance. Honestly, Megan was pretty bad if you just listened to her vocals. Screetchy and kind of strangled. (Not sure if strangled is the word for it but it's the only one I can come up with.)

Allison was GREAT - can't believe that voice and stage presence from a 16 yr old.

And Simon is absolutely right 99.9% of the time.

But the idea is to find the best singer not entertainer, perhaps he'd be better for something like America's Got Talent.

That's the secondary idea. Idea #1 is gain viewers, make more money.

It's NEVER been "find the best singer" as the prime directive. There are amazing singers cut all the time in favor of looks, background story, and likability.

And I likes Norman Gentle. He's an amazing singer and performer, just not in the typical way.
