I'm interested to see how far Jason Castro's brother goes. Also a slacker, but has good potential is the impression I get. Oh, and I'm looking forward to New York - I caught a glimpse at the end of tonight's montage of glittery chick who flipped off the camera with both hands last year!

Originally Posted By Dabob2 <I really like when they show all the people singing the same song - > I hate that. Because all of those people obviously didn't choose that song to sing. (Last night it was Signed, Sealed, Delivered. They filmed clips of all the bad singers singing it, PLUS entire groups singing it. This is obviously not spontaneous.) After the judges determine that these people are laughably bad, they are ASKED to sing some of it, just so they can put these little clips together. So that we can laugh at them some more. It's cruel. Some of these people clearly don't even know the song in question, tend to have quizzical looks on their faces, and thus look stupid as well as not being able to sing. Think about it. The judges have seen contestant X singing the song of his/her choice, and have determined this is one of the "bad ones" the screeners have sent through. They KNOW this person is not advancing. And then they say "Hey, could you sing a little Signed, Sealed, Delivered for us? Don't know it? It goes like this... Really, would you mind?" All so we can laugh at the same person a little more. Ugh.

I don't think Idol's changed, so much as I have. Sure, there's some people I don't feel bad for. But a lot of these kids (and maybe that's the difference; I'm now too old to compete, maybe these people just seem so young suddenly) are clearly deluded and not all there. On top of that, they've strung these kids along. They go through at least two sets of screeners before seeing the TV judges. Yet Idol still portrays it as if everyone gets in to see them. It's just bugged me this year.

Overall though -- it's been a kindler, gentler AI -- look how many times Simon has said 'I like you' to contestant. Lots.
