I don't know why Taylor always gets ripped as badly as he does. He is certainly not one of the best Idols, but he's not the worst either. As for this year... That "screech," while not always appropriate for every song (which is why I said he shouldn't have done it this week), has made a nice career for Axl Rose and any number of other metal lead singers (including Glam-metal, which seems to be Adam's forte). That may not be your cup of tea, but there's no denying either his chops, or that there's a market for it. At the same time, he's shown he's not a one-trick pony, and has probably shown more versatility than anyone. "Tracks of my Tears" showed he doesn't NEED to do the screech at all. He needs to learn a little more taste perhaps, or learn when NOT to do the screech just because he can (as I said about this week), but if he can learn that he'll have a nice career. Hell, even if he can't learn that he'll probably have a nice career. I'd also be okay with Danny winning; at his best he's very engaging. And I like Allison - I have a weakness for rocker chicks. Matt and Kris - talented and likable, but lack that certain "it" factor for me. YMMV.

Kris is my second fave and Allison my third. Kris is really getting into his own grove. He is blossoming and he really deserves to win as much as Adam IMO. Danny....dude creeps me out. Enough of the looking up at the sky when singing a ballad...please! Sorry for the dudes loss, but does he really have to milk it. I live in NC so I actually was a little bitter to see Noop Dogg go. Matt shouldve gone first. And Lil....dont even get me started on her. Sweet lady, but she had no clue how to use her voice to her advantage. Rat Pack theme next week.....It should be an interesting night all around. I am hoping Adam will sing in his beautiful lower range for once. Its my only complaint. If you listen to the Brigadoon song I linked to....you'll see ... his lower register is just as amazing as his higher one.

As you say, it's a singing competition, so why is it not okay to judge Adam personally, but okay to judge Danny's? What if Adam had lost his partner... do you think he would be any less emotional about it? I rather doubt it.
