Both the girls and guys he made the comment to seemed to project more than others like they were performing on a stage.

There are a lot factors that come into play once signed, some of them having nothing to do with the talent or actions of the artist. I don't even care if they "deserve" it or not. It's just boring. And in Joanna's case, after watching her video...she doesn't really interest me at all.
