What's interesting on this thread, though, are the conservatives who tried to tell him that it was extremists like him who drove them out of the Republican party. I've never been either a Republican or a Democrat, and kind of proud of it. But my wife was a Republican when we met, and for many years. But she's since become independent, and for exactly that reason. The party has been hijacked by extremist idiots convinced of their own rightness and unable to be swayed, which makes them dangerous. And what is our little Dougie, besides a sad little man, if not that? I'm sure he'll dismiss that too, but the Republican party as a whole dismisses it at their peril. From the 80's to mid 90's I probably voted Republican about 60-40. Mid-90's to mid 2000's probably 55-45 the other way, depending on the local candidates. But I haven't voted for a Republican except on the lowest level in a good 5 years. No way I'm voting those tea party idiots in, and that's been the choice too often. I'd have voted for McCain in 2008, until he picked Palin. I'm still considering Romney, but Santorum or Gingrich no way. And who the hell can figure out what Romney really stands for? My wife, the former Republican, has swung probably farther than I have, partly because she's so disgusted. So keep right on the extremist path there, Doug. You'll see where it gets you.
