I think it's because it makes you uncomfortable to know that the "evidence" of Saddam's WMD plans were made up by Curveball. People you trusted and continued to support, even now, accepted that lie because it fit into their plans, and you know that this country holds itself (or at least once did) to a higher standard than that when it goes to war. You know that thousands of Americans gave their lives in Iraq and it's easier to ignore or distract from the topic than it is to admit what a craptastic bunch the Bush administration was -- a bunch of chicken hawks.
