    This makes sense to me!

It does seem very weird to me that Brittany and Jessica and all the teenage icons can parade about with barely any clothes on and that's acceptable but don't feed your baby in public without covering up!
    ohhhh ahhhhh????????

I have seen plenty of women feed in public and it does not bother me at all.
I don't look to see if they are "covering" up as that's the mother's personal choice, she's busy feeding her baby, not worrying about if I'm looking or not!

You ever worn a protective cup and jock strap? Trust me, these baseball players are not groping themselves. They're adjusting one of the most uncomfortable pieces of athletic equipment ever invented.

Kim, how about the mother having a bit of common courtesy? If I'm at Disney and I'm going to smoke, I'll point out to people who aren't smoking but standing near the ashtray I plan to use that I'm about to smoke, so they may want to move if the smoke's going to bother them. Half the time, folks say no worries it won't bother them, the other half they thank me and move a few feet away. Why can a mother plopping down next to a total stranger not give them a heads-up so they can move if they're going to be made uncomfortable by being in on this feeding time?

    Also, last week's top 10:

    1. CSI
    2. DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
    3. WITHOUT A TRACE
    4. LOST
    5. CSI: MIAMI
    6. GREY'S ANATOMY
    7. COMMANDER IN CHIEF
    7. LAW AND ORDER:SVU
    9. NCIS
    9. SURVIVOR: GUATEMALA

    (ties for 7th & 9th places)

Hardly a case of shows exploiting women shooting to #1 in the ratings. Yeah, Desperate Housewives doens't present women in the best light, but ti's a soap opera, and nobody expects it to. The men are all pretty much scum, too.

Oh, and for the record, I'd have left if I was Jafar, too - I just don't think I need to be the third party involved in a private two-person mealtime.

What do you consider is a heads up??

Talking to a stranger about breastfeeding is far more weird then actually sitting quietly and simply doing it!

This is really a very good solution.

Well, my non-child-bearing self would imagine something like "Hey there - I'm about to feed my baby. Just thought I'd let you know in case it will amke you uncomfortable." Given, I have NO idea how it would be phrased, but it just seems to me like that would show consideration for the fact that not everyone is comfortable with it, and give that other person a chance to say "thanks, I'll scoot along, then" or whatever.

    Oh, and thanks, Jim.

I have no problem with breastfeeding in public but I would not have felt comfortable sitting next to a lady who was uncovered. But that's just me. I certainly wouldn't judge the lady, I most likely would do what Jafar did and vacanted the bench.

Because I think more people would feel uncomfortable if you just started to talk to them about breastfeeding. It makes it in to a big deal. If you feel uncomfortable then you have the right to move to the next bench just as the mother has the right to breastfeed where she wants.

Last winter I was at a museum in Seattle and in this wide exhibit area with very bright lights I looked over and saw a woman breastfeeding her daught who (no kidding) was standing and feeding. She was like 2 and still on the breast! My hubby and I found this to be unappropriate. If you're going to breastfeed in public please be discrete and cover up.
