Your personal regard for these activites aside, I think they help put Disney ticket prices back in perspective.

    Madonna Concert $75-$375
Tim McGraw & Faith Hill $86
    Fiona Apple $75
    Detroit Pistons $180
    MLB Angels vs. Oakland $55

While I understand that WDW has so much more, you can still only be at one place at a time. Four times as many parks doesn't mean getting to do four times as much in a single day.

While I understand the point being made by comparing the price to that of concerts or season passes to sports events, to be honest I wouldn't pay those prices. I stopped going to concerts when the cost of dinner and a show started exceeding $200. Being a parent of 2 kids, I really can't justify spending that kind of money.

I’m thinking about getting a longer pass w/no expiration date. Maybe I can rationalize it to myself a bit more if I can save money on a later trip. But then, that's probably why Disney prices things this way …..

Those days are long gone....unless there is a promo, you're talking $169 for a 4 day DLR hopper.

You might consider an AP. My brother did that one year with his family. They visited WDW 4 times that year.

I figure its well worth it. Sure beats 6 Flags Over Georgia. 6 Flags Over Georgia chages for parking too.

There was a Taiko drum concert - something I've always enjoyed at Epcot. Bear in mind that at epcot it is considered a minor diversion.

Well at our local community theatre, they wanted $40 for a 50 minute show. (Epcot type experience)

We looked at Bletchley Park - a World Was 2 code cracking and computer museum - $25 for entrance. (Epcot like experience - think Innoventions)

The local bird sanctuary - $20 (similar to DAK's bird show)

A ride on Thomas the Tank engine - $22 for 30 minutes. (MK)

Compared to these prices and their relative attractions at WDW. WDW is a bargain, and DL even more so. That's why I get annoyed at So Cal locals that complain about the price of the parks.

Yes, it is expensive to take a family out for the day, but it is much cheaper than if you were going to add together all the attractions.

I remember a friend at work once complained he could not take his family to Disneyland Paris because it was too expensive.

He went to Blackpool instead (seaside town in the North of England), the same week we went to DLP. As a family of 4, we spent about half the amount he did while in Blackpool. And when we compared activities, we seemed to do more to boot.

Disney is great value for money, but it is not cheap.

As for the 10 day passes being cheaper than a lesser duration, it encourages people to stay on site longer. If you stay for 10 days, you will spend more than those staying for 5 - in theory. And there are no guarentees that people will come back for repeat visits.

Therefore they reward long term visitors - and in return, they stay in the hotels and eat more. The real profit centres for the company.

I am going to see "The Aquabats" on monday (the most fun you will have at a show) for only $15
