For me, it would be near perfect if it only used Hawaiian and Polynesian music and songs. Nothing tropical about "Lets All Sing Like the Birdies Sing". But bring back the dancing waters while "ALoha Oi" is performed and I'd be a happy camper. I think it would also be cool if they took a cue from TDL and change one of the four main birds to female.

I don't know why they put in "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing" but it's a great song. The only Polynesian song in there is the chant sung by the flowers and tikis. The theme song for the whole show certainly isn't Polynesian. Would you have them take that one out?

Jacques, Michael, Jose and Fritz aren't Polynesian either, but they're okay (more or less). Except when they make their contributions to the aforementioned song of course.

However, if they sold mai tais, pina coladas and bahama mama's out front, it might be easier to tolerate that part of the joy.

Really? Is that all?? Gosh, it feels a whole lot longer than that. Between the first go-round, the verse where the parrots do there ghastly solos and then the audience sing-along verse it feels like 10 minutes at least. But you're probably right...

<<And for the Tiki Room, you only have to wait outside for as long as each show lasts>>

You know, I really like the outside show. I wish they could incorporate something similar on the inside. It ties much better into the overall theme anyway.

It is a big deal when our beloved Disney parks become less creative .. and a lot more crass, tacky, or cheap ... one way or another.

The "High Standard" we all are use to ... is becoming the "Toon Standard" .. and that's not NECESSARILY a high one!

I did, but more in a context of just random fan rambling. Somebody thought it would be neat if there was one attraction in each land that got an overlay for the holidays. HMH and iaswh take care of NOS and TT, but that leaves most of the park for other attractions. Some of the highlights I remember from that discussion was a New Year's version of Splash Mountain where the big drop is like the ball drop in New York, and the characters on the boat at the end are all singing Auld Lang Syne. There was also talk of making Innoventions a little more Christmas-ey (which is a lot easier to do now that they have a house to decorate for it).

And the only other one that I remember was the Melekalikimaka Tiki Room. I don't remember if it was just rumors or if there was anything of substance behind it though. I think there are a lot of possibilities for some good tropical/holiday related jokes. The only drawback that I can think of is that nobody knows a song that would fit other than the aforementioned one, and that wouldn't be a very good 17 minute show.

Maybe they could play the Country Bear Christmas Jamboree in there, but act it all out with birds. Use the birdmobile as Teddi Berra, and the other birds as the rest of the characters...it couldn't be any worse than SSL, right? : )

Would they cover the birds with fake snow and have them sing Holiday tunes?

Personally, I tolerate the Tiki Room and like to keep it a fond memory. I find it a bit dated and sometimes offensive (and usually, I am far from politically correct).

I think they should do a Halloween overlay. Copy a tape of the show and run it over in the parking lot and then play it. Lose a few lights and have an occasional cold wind blow through and you would have a winner.

The groans, squeaks and scratches of the soundtrack along with some purposely broken animatronics would make for a frightening and creepy show.

Add some webbing and take a couple of the birds and make 'em look like moulting season in in full force and sell replicas in the gift shop.

Eightdwarf....you may be on to something for those hot summer days "However, if they sold mai tais, pina coladas and bahama mama's out front, it might be easier to tolerate that part of the joy"
